Last April when I got discouraged lifting, because I simply was too fat around the midsection, I decided to make a long term project out of it. I weighed around 265 in mid April 2009.

Phase I was to lose 30 pounds in 6 months.
Well I have been holding 221 or less for 19 days in a row (first thing in the morning), except 1 day where I was 222, so I have well surpassed that mark. I am holding my diet steady and want to ultimately push it no lower than 215, then go no higher than 225 through the holidays eating quality foods.

Phase II was to get a complete blood profile and see both my family doctor and endocrinologist.
Saw the family doc last night. Told him I stopped the heart meds. He said I looked great.
Total Cholesterol was 164 (down from 270), LDL 109 (down from 154 in April), and HDL 33 (up from 29 in April) recommended <40.
He said according to my family history the low HDL was probably genetic, but I am still adjusting my diet both short and long-term to attenuate that discrepancy.
Liver function: AST and ALT still a bit elevated. AST 6 over limit and ALT 14 over limit. I know why but kept that to myself, will make adjustments to stabilize.
Testosterone wasn't in yet but FSH was very low, 0.7 (range 1.6-8.0), and LH was low as well, 0.2 (range 1.5-9.3).
These are major concerns and probably explain some of the problems I have had lately with sexual interest, performance, and depression.
Will see the endocrinologist next week and by then will have the free and total testosterone figures. Should be interesting.

Phase III has already started and is building momentum. That is to stay in a regular work-out routine until the first week in May. I am not making any promises, but have been increasing workouts and intensity for 3 weeks now.
Thanks to a workable routine by Lifts, I am getting over initial DOMS and settling into a both intense and challenging routine. I should hit five days this week. I managed to pull 350 for 6 on the hammer strength row last night, and 320 on the hammer strength pull-down for 6.
These were partial reps on my 8 set each, but eventually by pulling this kind of weight the full range will come. I give it until Feb, but will strive to increase the weight to over 450 in partials by then if I can maintain training consistency.
Thank you lifts, a very workable routine attenuating issues inherent to an older lifter, but challenging as well. Glad my gym has the hammer strength machines.

I won't mention the other phases yet. I will cross that bridge when I come to it, and I am trying to focus lately on what is, not what can be.
Thanks for listening.
