Powerbelle and I have been discussing getting one for quite some time now and a close friend that lives in another state that raises them for competitions has hooked us up with one of his friends that raises them closer to where we are.
Full blooded with papers and have had their 1st 2 shots. Been wormed and they are 6 weeks old.
We're not looking to raise him to fight. I want a dog to protect Powerbelle and the grandchildren when they are all outside playing in the back yard or if she chooses to take them on a walk down the street.
As too, I want him to be protective over all of them when the need arises and I am not around.

I am not going to sled him until he is 10 months old as I do not want to damage his growth plates as I have been informed to wait until he is 9, but I will wait until he is ten.
If anyone has any positive suggestion to help then I would be glad to hear it.

We have raised other dogs in the past but this is our 1st pit.
He's loving and playful as I am trying to get him to attach to Powerbelle more so than me, but I was playing with him some too, lol.
She bathed him in flea shampoo the 1st thing when we got in last night.
Of course a couple of the grand babies heard about it yesterday on the road trip back home and nothing would do but to have their mom drive them over to see the puppy, lol.
Most all the grandchildren know by now and some will be coming by today to see and play with the puppy.
I want the grandchildren to socialize with him as often as they can cos I want him fun and playful with them as well as be their guardian if the need arises.

We put him in the large pet carrier last night with a warm bottle of water that was in an old sock so he could have something warm to cuddle to try and keep some of the puppy moaning down last night.
And we woke at 6am to the fresh smell of puppy poop, lol.
Yeah! Getting up 1st thing on Sunday morning to clean poop out of the carrier and washing a puppy wasn't in the plan, lol.
I told Powerbelle that we were raining a kid all over again, lol.

Ok, so here's the deal from yesterday until today Powerbelle and I have been talking over names to kinda match his personality and look.
We've been throwing some names around but are not definite yet:
We are bigs fans of Sons of Anarchy so:
Jax
Opie

He kinda gets charged up when he sees us walking by or when he gets done eating and wants to play or tug on our pants legs.
So she thought of one possibility of Rowdy.

Of course she was joking around with precious and buttercup!!!
We were laughing and Powerbelle said can you see one of our macho friends that haven't seen us for a while show up and I say:"Come here precious".
And him thinking the dog is a little Chihuahua coming around the corner of the house and it ends up being a pitbull, lol.
I said yep. The look on his face would be priceless, lol.
I said we could just keep it simple and name him Dog!
Of course that wasn't funny and I got smacked on the shoulder for it, lol.

Here is a pic Powerbelle snapped with her cell phone of him last night after his bath.
She will be taking a ton more pics with her Nikon D5000 as today goes by.

When will you be starting Dog on tren bro? :D :p

j/k - cute puppy! :)

Damn. Pitts are illegal here. They get sold under different breeds though.
They actually still fight them where your from. That's crazy.. Cute dog though.
Are they very protective of family are they? How are they with kids in general? It would be good if you could rely on him to take the kids outZ

We have a 12week old female pit mixed with hyena.

lol, no hyena, but she has a brindle coat pattern down her sides making her look like a hyena with a pitbull head. The vet said she was pitbull mixed with probably a smaller breed dog, so were not exactly sure yet. She's a good dog, but hyper as heck.

The fianc? delivered our first newborn baby a week after we found her a month ago, and it's been rough, like taking care of 2 baby's. The fianc? was freaking out about having a dog around our baby in the house, so I bleached the back yard like twice, and she has been good.

Originally, I was wanting to get an American Bulldog for around the house, and a Weimaraner for hunting.

I'll try to post pics up if I get time.

We're not training him to fight. I got him for my wife Powerbelle and the grand children to play with and be their guardian when I'm not around.
He's gonna be spoiled rotten by them as he has been this past weekend.
He's gonna be trained to listen at 1st command. Especially from Powerbelle.
He will be strengthened at 10 months on our sled as well as other equipment to make him stronger.
The grand children love him and have been non stop playing with him, lol.

Congrats on the newborn!
Haven't thought about bleaching the back yard.
Yes do post up pics!

We've got the names down to Jax or Boss......maybe Boss Jax, lol.

He's taken over 1 of the 2 recliners and is getting spoiled by the grandchildren.
We opted for the harness cos we felt like a collar would possible choke him but some of our friends tell us that the harness would mess with his joints and cut into his legs?

Well....what a difference a few days makes in life events...lol!

So we have the puppy I talked about above, she is 14 or so weeks old, and the fianc? named her SHAKIRA...lol. We've had her for about 5 weeks.

Fast forward almost 5 weeks, and the fianc? sees a bunch of kids chasing and being mean to a little puppy on our street, so she told them to leave it alone (in Spanish so I don't know exactly what she said....but it sounded sexy...lol), and the dog came to our yard. The next day it was sleeping on our welcome mat. I put her in our garage until we figured out what to do with her, but the fianc? got a bright idea of wanting another puppy for SHAKIRA to play with....so we have another new dog as of this week. Right now her name is OREO unless we come up with something better. She is 9 or so weeks old according to the vet, and she is pit, and maybe something else, not sure.

The first pics are SHAKIRA, and the OREO is second:
