PS3? Blue Ray?

Ok so I am in college in my last year and everyone down here has xbox360 right. But i love ps2 and im getting ready to get a 46in HD Sharp plasma. Do any of you guys have a ps3 or blue ray player? Is it that much better than HDTV, and if i have an HDTV then it will play blue ray correct?

i have a ps3 in my sportsbar and it is hooked up to one of the 60inch lcd hdtv's and its awesome
