is it cruel to leave my dog in his crate while i am at work? dad says it is... he just tears my house up while im gone...and i cant leave him outside....

It isn't cruel but I would only do it for a puppy learning to potty train. Sounds like your dog needs obediance classes. If you can fence of an area like your kitchen he will have more room to move around.

Thate is right. Obedience classes are time consuming, but well worth it. I trained several of my dogs over the years and the fact that they come as soon as they hear the word "COME" has saved them from running into the street and getting hit more than once. You will learn to teach your dog his bounaries and you won't need to confine him at all.

I let my dog run around while im gone. He knows to use a puppy pad so hes good while im gone.

WELL... my dog is verrrry obident...his breed American Bulldog has a well known history of separation anxiety... he dont use the bathroom in the house at all when i leave him out... he just chewed a hole in my sheet rock and gnawed on the baseboards....

Try penning him up in the kitchen make sure he has lots of water and theres nothing he can choke on or get into

If you got lawn put him in a big pen. but putting him in a crate or cage isnt cruel at all.

After our Yorkie chewed an area rug and the corners of the first step of my hardwood staircase, she started staying in the crate while we are at work. It's not cruel. In fact, when you are training puppies, they are supposed to be put in a crate whenever they are unsupervised. Hell, sometimes when we are home during the day, she voluntarilly goes in the crate to sleep. Just make sure the dog has water available, and don't leave it in the crate for longer periods of time than it can hold it's pee/poop.

i would get one of those gates that they use to keep little kid in and put him in a gated off area.

Crate train until he is trust worthy. Start leaving him out in small intervals. Like a few times for a half hour then an hour then 2 and so on.

the gate is a good idea if he doesnt bulldoze it down. also obedience training is a must.... I have a german shepherd...but I also have a back yard....why cant you leave him outside

dude baby pits will true anything they destroyed the first 2 stairs at my parents house they bit up the big front door tore carpet up there alot of work lol

My Shepherd stays in the yard thanks to an underground fence system. The Yorkie only weighs 5 lbs though, so if I left her in the yard I would be afraid she would either get stepped on by the 100 lb Shepherd or some bird of prey would swoop down and scoop her up.

I have a 5lb yorkie and a boxer and i let my dogs out in backyard to chill and all is good. The boxer is really gnetle he will not jump on children or snap on the yorkie
