ok so i always hear when you are going from a bulk to a cut you should lose slow. why is this? Can someone explain whether its just in general considered to be more healthy or if it actually effects skin rebound?

cause you will lose alot of that hard earned muscle. ideally you'll do maintenance for a time and let those gains 'sink in' on ur frame.

Hi:)...hell i forgot what i was going to say, lol Um..i dont think it effects skin rebound if you are bulking correctly. I only think it helps if you are doing a drastic bulk. I always try to do clean bulk, so it is more of a cut while maintaining and slowly progressing with quality muscle gains. So i guess my answer would be yes gradually.

this isnt for me. he didnt clean bulk and is on cycle so i assume its harder for him to lose muscle. hesalready dropped 30 lbs and not lost any visible amounts of muscle. he has 23 more to go andwants to hurry just wondering if it will effect his skin rebound since hes concerned

Sounds like poor planning ........... as you know any rapid weight loss can do a job on the skin.

well i lost 175lbs hes losing 50 lol that would pretty much put us in different skin categories

i dont understand wut this skin rebound is can some1 explain it to me

i think they mean the amount of loose skin you would have after loosing weight from it being stretched after having body fat under it...

am i right?

Yeah but was yours was extreme loss, completely different IMO.

my point exactly i had to lose so much i was gonna have loose skin no matter how fast i lost it. wondering if it actually matters how fast he loses it since his is no where near as extreme

I personally think it is mostly genetics. That is why some get stretch marks and some do not.

Does he have any stretch marks now ??? That will tell a lot of what to expect.

not very many no. i really do think he will be fine even if he loses the rest fast but i hate to say that and be wrong lol

I do not think he will see much in skin rebound if hes already lost that much and no dif in muscle quality. It really depends on the individual. Age and health factors in on this and also his diet, and how his training is when targeting his bf.

hes 28 diet is awesome trains hard and heavy going from 20%-10% and hes healthy so i personally think he SHOULD be able to lose fast and not have to worry but again.. i dunno. his skin looks fine after losing 36lbs which took maybe 8 weeks so i would assume it would continue... the advice he was given is 2-3lbs of fat a week but that isnt fast hehe

Can i ask, why is he in such a hurry? or is he doing comp? What is his lbs now in proportion to his height and frame?

hes in a hurry cause he wants it now lol no comp or anything hes just ready to see the end result and then do a clean bulk. hhes 230 at 5'9 with a very large frame.. me as well as ALL his friends that are trainers thought he was about 14% when he came out 20 i thought he was lying lol hes already getting ab def and his arms/shoulders/chest are cut to shit with striations.. that is not right at 20% lol

A good part of that initial weight loss was water, the rest will come off slower unless he decides to peel some mass off with it.

the correct way is 1 to 1.5 lbs of fat loss a week, any more then that and he will lose muscle even wille on drugs

i told him to check out the responses then make up his own mind on how to handle his cut. thanks everyone
