Recovery at Over 60 YO

Yes ! MG
I had to give it a couple of weeks before I reported.
It seem to be working. Still feel tired , but not as much it think.
Did upper last night and my frigging shoulder joints and killing me this AM.

Read anything you can get your hands on by Tom Kurz in regards to stretching and scientific training. He used to have a few books out in the early 80's that were very good in regards to age specific recuperation through stretching.
Head back to your doc and ask for specific tests as suggested by Glyco. You have nothing to lose by doing so. Have you had a colonoscopy?
I'm 55 and hit each muscle full on every ten days, but if you figure the smaller muscles are involved in push pull, I am still hitting each once every five days.

For the joints get your self some lidocaine and cortisone and inject it yourself. I do it twice a year in both knees, elbows and shoulders. Havent had any pain in year where I used to have tons!

I went on a regimen of B12 shots for while and weather or not it was my mind..(some say they don't work) It seemed to work for me

Thanks Brother's !
I started looking into chronic fatigue ( I don't have it ) and found that D-Ribose does me wonders.
Been doing it a week and a marked difference .
Never knew about this simple sugar , but for me it is working .
Has anyone else had any experience with this ?
I wanted to start a new thread about it , but lets see what happens here.
I will post my labs when I get a chance.

PS: I backed down on the fast carbs as well.

try a keto diet...increases free test/igf-1/lots of energy ...B12 shots...beta alanine pre w/o and ghrp-6/cjc 3x/day. too many carbs make me lazy/sluggish and weak with no energy !of course my doc has me on pain meds and trt 200cc/2 wks, I'm over 50 w arthritis in my spine /shoulders/hips..... good luck !

hot rocks, I can not believe that you have not read my "old man's workout"! great advice here, I work out five days a week, splitting the whole body into the five days, only working each bodypart once a week. this has really worked for me.

fatigue is an issue, glad it looks like you are getting on top of it. take a look at all you supps and meds to see if they could be contributing. I recently cut my daily zyrtec dose in half for just that reason.

I'm over 60, and I suffer with fatigue and joint discomfort for days and sometime a week after exercise.
I exercise through it, but hell! I feel like a slug , but a strong one at that.
I started back this January after a year layoff from a pinched nerve in my neck from doing heavy shrugs I guess.
And I've look at all the obvious reasons sleep, hydration..ect.
And can't find anything that helps.
I have complete blood work done twice a year and the levels are good.
I'm on TRT test-e at 200mg per week.
I take all the supps I believe are necessary. Including by not limited to Glucosamine Chondroitin and Osteo Bi-Flex.
Nothing seem to help.
I don't "think" I'm over training ,but I could be .
I do a 4 day split .Shoulders, chest and tri's on Monday Thursday and Bi's, back and legs or Tuesday Friday.
I've been told to try reducing the load over the course of 3 weeks in this order per week.
100%,75%,50% then back to 100% or more.
I haven't done this yet ,because it doesn't seem to me that I'm doing progressive resistance with that approach as I always have.
Any ideas ?

its the workout you need to hit each bodypart ONE TIME per week for recovery especially at an older age
Mon chest
Tue back
Wed shoulders traps
Thur legs
Fri arms
SAT off
Sun off
this is what we use to great results - with this split each bodypart gets a real good recovery before its hit again or gets hit with another synergystic muscle

I appreciate the info ..
But hitting the gym 5 days a week would be too much for me on my schedule.
If you had to break it down to 3 day how would you do it ?

3 days?

chest shoulders tri

back bi's

legs

the rest of the days off to recover - either way hit each bodypart only once in 7 days
