went into heart failure a few hours ago, they Couldn't restart his heart. Hes been bed ridden and asking to die for 8 months. Last night he was saying goodbye to us all and we thought he was just acting crazy.

He wanted to be cremated and ashes spread at sea, he is getting his wish.

RIP grandpa, 82 years old, Navy vet.
 
Sorry to hear bro. He finally got his wish. I have talked to my mom & dad before - who's 81 & 91 respectively - about the topic you mention, and they both said (as well as me), that they do not want to be in a position where they are just being "kept alive" merely to exist. Much better he's on the other side now in peace. RIP to your grandpa.
 
sorry to hear.. Sometimes they just know.. makes you wonder if someone isn't whispering in their ear
 
Sorry for your loss bro. My Father passed away Dec. 11th this time last year. This has been a hard week for me so far. Buy life goes on with us or without us as much as that hurts our egos to realize.
My heart goes out to you.

It's hard my friend, I experienced the same thing with my father years ago. My heart goes out to you and your family.
 
My condolences to you and your family, sounds like a close-knit group.
On a positive note, he passed surrounded by those he loved and those who mostly loved him.
Your souls will carry on forever.
