and those that have been around awhile know that I have knee proeblems. Well, it's been causing me a LOT of trouble lately and I knew I needed it scoped again.

Well, even though he told me what I pretty well already knew, it still came as bit of a blow. My knee is fucked..lol..

What I can remember from what he said- I have MAJOR MAJOR osteoarthritis. He told me I have the knee of a 65 yr old arthritic person. In 2 different places in my knee it's just bone on bone contact. I have osteophytes (bone supurs)ALL over the place on my knee.

Doing a scope may help me at the time being- enough to get my through another little while. He knows that I want to compete again in the fall. After that, it's whatever is going to give me pain relief and as much ROM as possible. He suggested Synvisc- injections that basically is synthetic synovial fluid. Other than that, it's a knee replacement. Other types of surgery are no good to me because of the state of my knee. He said if he was a betting man, I'll have a new knee within 10 years. After the last month, I agree.

He also said I need to get a new job...LMAO...

And all my problems are from the surgery I had at age 14- totally fucked everything up.

Despite all that, I'm good. I'll do what I can, with what I've got [:)] I am waaay too stubborn to give up.

wow, sorry to hear about that, knee replacement is no joke, you will be out of commission for quite awhile, hope things turn out ok

Wow... sorry to hear it is so bad in there. Knee replacement now is a lot better than it used to be - but still sucks. Hip replacement technology keeps advancing - now there is a procedure they can do where you actually can walk up and down stairs without assistance THE DAY OF surgery. That is amazing. Some of the surgeons I work with are doing some slightly more advanced knee procedures - be sure you shop around if you decide to go that route in the future. The minimally invasive procedures dramatically decrease your down time, and with the new high flex knees you can have range of motion up to I think 130-135 degrees which is better than some people with "good" knees have.
Hopefully that synvisc works to buy you some time - I know people that have had good results with that, and some that it didn't work for. The ones it worked for said it was like a night and day difference.

My Dad had both knees replaced within 8 months of each other. He was up walking the next day. He was told that he recovered faster then most people do. I think it's advanced a lot from what the surgery was years ago.

Thanks guys. I am hoping I WILL get 10 years with my knee before I have to think about it. I just have to take one day at a time. I will have it scoped within the next month and hopefully I'll be good for awhile. No way to know til I get it done :)

Yeah, Aaron knees are such a difficult joint to work with. My doc says he'd rather do 20 hips as do 1 knee. Always advancements in the hip area and very little regarding knees. Just my luck ;)

Thanks again :) I may require encouragement from time to time :) I'll try not to complain too much.

Thanks Stout. It IS pretty serious shit. But I just have to get through it the best way I can. Hopefully I can hang on to the knee I've got for another few years yet, with minimal problems, after I get fixed up this time :)

You'll be fine IG. I'm sorry to hear about it, but I know you will work through it and come out stronger then when u started.
