I had a mild tear while digging post holes, then I aggravated it by pushing through it. Last night I had an attack of acid reflux while laying on my back that caused me to choke and cough furiously and that really did it.

I was in so much pain I couldn't even go back to bed. No position I tried relieved the pain. Standing, sitting, laying and any arm position brings no relief.

Has anyone experienced this before? Best advice for relief and how long to recover? I have far too much work to accomplish to be sidelined with this injury.

I am hoping a couple days rest will get me back at it for at least some moderate work loads.

I had a cortisone injection by a shoulder specialist. It worked wonders.

Oh... thanks, I think. I wasn't hoping to hear it would take such a serious action.

My tear was pretty severe with the ligaments inflamed. The doctor said the shot would stop the pain so that I could work the other shoulder muscles to build them stronger. This was eight months ago, and no need for a second shot. He put 5cc's into my shoulder the syringe looked something that would be used on a horse.

I had an intercostal year last year that was pretty severe. Couldn’t breathe deep or sleep well. It was about week 2 before I started feeling better and do any kind of exercise. Bothered be for about another month.
