Well due to all of the virus'/spyware etc.. I got from pornsites I'm looking to get another PC.. :D I've been looking on Dell.com and I like their prices, plus we had dell equipment at my old job and they seem to be very reliable. What would you all suggest? The Dell I'm looking at has 2.6ghz processor, 512ram, 160gig harddrive and 17in flat panel monitor. Only around $599

Dell is a very good choice. The one you listed seems very nice. Remember to get the antivirus / spyware removers. The top choice now is Zone Alarm. If you get Zone alarm make sure you get the Loaded version with the virus scan. It's around 70.00. I personaly like Zone alarm over Norton because Norton waits till your pc is infected then tries to clean it where Zone alarm prevents you from catching the bug. Mcafee is also a good choice but again make sure you get the Loaded version.

Dell's prices are HARD to beat for what they offer. I bought one of their laptops over a yr ago, never have had a bit of trouble with it

i used to swear by DEll. i bought 2 PCs and just bought a laptop. the products are great and delivery is fast (less yhan a week). what's changed about Dell is the service options. you now have to pay way more than before for software ins. and god help you if you have to call. you be on the phone for hours, transfering from place to place and speaking to poeple with poor english skills. you'll go nuts!:triggerha
good luck!

Thanks everyone. I do think I will go with the dell. Entrigan, thanks for the info on the software. I dont mind paying for somethign that will protect my pc. Especially a new one. I'm glad to hear ya'll like the deals cause the prices are looking good to me.

id say stay away from dell, im on mine right now, and i regret ever buying it....it crashes every 6months like clockwork...i even payed for the accidental/extended warranties and they refuse to repair/replace it. ive been on the phone with their customer service peeps for a total of 78hours so far, and i wanna kill every last one of those bastards....:triggerha

you may want to consider alienware....its more costly, but well worth it....they have the best preformance anywhere, and the only thing that can come close to it is the Sony Viao

alienware a little more costly?.........like 5x as much...lol

well, when you take the price compared to the preformance, its well worth it....IMO

Well I have a question regarding software. Someone mentioed Zone software to be the best all around virus/spyware package. I have heard the same thing along with a few other programs. But I'm really wanting to protect the PC when I get it. I'm sure I'll be on certain sites that load all of that spyware shit on computers. How can I keep that from happening? Back when I had dial up some shit even took my damn modem over and starting dial foreign numbers...lol. WTF?? Will Zone software keep that kind of stuff from happening??

yes Zone alarm will keep your PC as clean as possible like everything it's not perfect. Check out cnet.com for some reviews on the product. It rated it #1. I've used it very nice product. The new Mcafee is ok. Also not a bad product but it's kinda quarkey. I don't like Norton but that's just me lol. Check out cnet for the reviews good information there.

norton products kill your computers speed.

Norton products also alow your pc to get infected then they try to clean your pc. To me that just stinks. I have Mcafee at home and it runs ok kinda qwarky with the privacy manager but i'm ok with it. I installed Zone Alarm Last week for a customer, seemed to clean up the 2000 pieces of malware and started to protect her pc.

See now I think Dell's completely suck ass. I had one that I paid a mint for and had nothing but trouble. Not only that the company I worked for all had Dells and again constant problems. They had gotten me a brand new pc and the motherboard fried instanly. I have been looking into Xi's.

i know exactly what your talking about, that what ive got to deal with all the time

I have owned a couple of Dell PCs before and had mixed results. I need to replace my current one on a budget and I have been pretty impressed with eMachines products. On their website they list the prices w/o a monitor, but your local Best Buy will hook you up with a pretty fair package for under a grand.

No way will I ever spend one grand on a PC. These days you can get a VERY well equiped PC for under $600-700. I guess it all comes down to what you plan on doing with it. Also I wouldnt buy something for the same price without a monitor, then having to go shop around for a decent monitor to buy. I'll go to Dell and buy everything for $599. 17 in flat panel monitor included. Good deal IMO

naw.........I got one, so does my mom, and best friend, no problem with ours. I would recommend dell to anyone

I personaly haven't had to many problems with dell. I have a few friends that their pc seem to brake every 2 min. Take a look what your getting compair it to the other ads. Is the processor a celron or straight up Intel. Do you get XP home or XP Pro. things like this can make a difference in your choice. If dell offers the best deal i'd say go for it. Now as for service this is where the Compainies loose people. Most the time first line of service reads from a book as to how to fix your pc. So if you have a problem just make sure it's broke lol. The last time I called Dell was call was last week. The hard drive crashed on this laptop here. Dell wanted me to go and install the operating system you know the standard book bs. Well someone (not me lol) made sure the HD was broke before I called. That made things easier and they sent a tech. here to replace the droped I mean broken HD lol.

you can probly fix your PC man, depends on what it is but, you can I bet.

Well to give everyone an update I went with the Dell. I got it yesterday and I'm very happy with it. If it doesnt give me trouble in the future I"m going to love it. I love the 17in flat panel monitor. PB is looking great with it!! lol
