Starting Prep for PL Meet

Did Leg Training yesterday.
Had grandkids at trhe house when I got home and they just left.
Squats - warm-ups, 545x1, 585x1, 675x1, 700x1, 725x1 (I think this one was a good rep. Saw my butt below my knees I think, but I was also seeing little squiggley things!)
Then did 5 sets calf raises, 5 sets Leg Extensions, 5 sets Leg Curls.
I do these for ligament and tendon strength and to get more blood flow to the legs.
 
Back killing me after work today so did modifeid bench training.
Warm-ups, then, 455x10, 10, 10, 8, 8, 8, 8, 7, 7, 6, 6, 6, Then 405x12
 
Taking another day for back to rest.
It's feeling better so I'm pretty sure it is muscle strain. I feel like I need at least a week off, but with comp less than three weeks away, no way I'm slacking now.

Will take the rest of the weekend off. Then next week begin with low volume training, hitting only minimal warm-ups then one rep max attempts. If i hit a weight and it feels comfortable then I'll go up, but will pyramid up, as is my game plan for the 18th.
I will try yo copy meet rules by only allowing myself 3 minutes between attempts then one minute to complete the rep.
Also getting my wife into being my "coach" (without psyching me out) as I'll need someone to write down the weight of my next attempt then deliver it to the judges. I don't want to have to worry about all that while I am getting my mind prepared for the next attempt.
Will begin two weeks of 100mg anadrol ed Saturday, along with the 100mg var, 1000mg Eq, 1000mg Test E. A week out from comp I'll add 1000mg deca ed for that week.

Holy cow! :eek: Whats the reasoning behind this? I've heard of loading up on halo, drol, test suspension & cheque drops close to a meet but never deca. Hope you don't grow a 3rd nipple brutha! :D :p

Does your Coach do the lift offs for the bench press at this meet?
 
I may have to find someone there to help. At home i normally am good by myself, but my bench was custom made for my arm lngth. At the gym I go to you have to push the weight up and bring it over. So I'll figure it out during the warm-up session. I think my wife can do it for me though. She's not a big girl but she is pretty wiry. And I can unrack the weight easily I just might need someone to help balance it once I push it out of the rack.
From there it's all me anyway. And they provide spotters as required by their insurance.

The deca will be kicking into high gear around the day of the meet and it will help with that extra mental boost if nothing else. Just look at it like a front load. And I will be runing caber with it.
 
175lbs curl with an olympic bar...wtf?! i was so happy when i started hitting 135 for a 4x3 i though i was gonna shit! can't imagine watching someone curl what most average gymgoers try and squat with,lol...prison days.brings bacm memories.i used to watch how they trained in pouring rain.4 guys would hold sheets over the bench then just keep rotating.winter,at 10 degrees out dudes doin 405 for a 10x10 like candy,then hit shoulders then w/o at night.some big dudes i met all came outta the joint.that's what got me into it,just i should've listened and not have taken the path i chose.i'd be right up there next to you buff.me and another CO were the ones who put together and trained our PLing team for the prison.we had guys in the high 600-mid 700 ranges on bench and close to high 900's on squats.dudes loved us.man,i miss that shit.no shirts,no suits,no boards,just vomit,blood and sweat and lots of it.keep beastin bro...fire off a shot for me tonight toward your bro.sucks dude.
 
Feeling the effetcs of the 100mg var combined with 100mg adrol and 1000mg of Eq to boot. My BP meds are probably the only thing keeping me from stroking right now probably.
But I feel great! No pain anywhere in my body for a change.
I think the week off did me some good.
Can't wait to see where my strength level is this afternoon on bench training.

Great training session today. Not sure if from the week off or from the 100mg var mixed with the 100mg a-drol. Probably both.

Bench - warmed up with - 225x10, 315x5, 405x5 then did 3 sets with 3 minutes between sets and lift completed before 1 minute after that. Wife timed me at this point.
525x1, 535x1, 545x1
The 545 felt light like I could have done two reps. Got to be the anadrol.
Did 1 set inclines 405x10 but left shoulder felt strange so I didn't do any more.

Check my BP today. It was 146/87 I think. Not bad considering all I'm on right now.

More like pushing 260lbs this am with all the var and adrol.
I've gone from being about 9% bf to maybe 12 right now. Mostly water.
But I'll need it when I try for my max weights on the 18th.
I may have to go up a weight class if I keep gaining.
 
No training today. Training will be minimal for the next week.
Will do squats Saturday, Bench Monday, Deads either Tuesday or Wednesday, probably Tuesday, then nothing until Comp on that Saturday.
 
Trained Squats today.
Did low rep warm-ups, pyramided up to 725, and did three sets there.
725x1, 725x1, 725x1
Had a slight nose bleed on the right nostril on last set.
Weight holding steady at 258. The water from the adrol is being held at bay by my hydrchlorothiazide. (By the way, I have to bring a Dr's note and my prescription bottle of the diuretic as this is a banned substance. But I'm on so much gear that is the least of my worries.)
 
I checked it at the grocery store. Could only get my forearm in the stupid thing. But it checked at 175/87. Not too bad considering.
My legs are killing me today though. I can barely stand or sit.
But i really want to hit 2000lb or more total Saturday. I was just trying to build up my confidence for a big 750lb attempt possibly.
If I can hit a 550 bench and a 700 dead then a 750 squat I'll be right on 2000.
All of these weights are easily attainable I feel.
 
Getting psyched. Trained Saturday with my little tights on and my new "legal" sized belt.
Didn't bother me too much. I was a little self conscious when this Puerto Rican chick came up hitting on me. I saw her eyeing my junk (after squatting 725 it's not too impressive) and I had to explain I'm training for a comp this weekend.
So that broke me in for the worst part of it, wearing those stupid little tights. (My wife loves them)
Bench training tonight. Will train in gym due to cold weather. It's supposed to be in the 60's this afternoon. Brrrr. (Remember I'm from Florida before you call me a wuss!)
 
Bench training this evening.
Very weak. Was on the business end of a shovel all day long and have a bloody blister on my right hand between the thumb and trigger finger. (Guess I'll have to start having sex with the old lady again)
It was a bit painful but I was still able to knock off a few reps.
5 sets warm-ups pyramidding then 3 working sets at 525x1, 525x1, 505x1
 
Saturday.
This evening will be last traingin session until meet. Will be doing deads.
Everyone is saying I shold be resting, and they are probably right.
But for me it's a mental thing. I have to keep reminding myself that I can do it, and by lifting I prove myself right. Power Lifting is 50% mental.
You have to be a half-wit to want to do it.
 
Considering the lifts you've posted in this log, add in the extra 2-3% you will get from the adrenalin rush from being there, the atmosphere, the competition etc, and IMO you will smash 2000 bro.

Btw, this has been a helluva log! I will say you don't seem to give yourself the credit you deserve. I'm thinkin' theres not many even at Westside thats your age lifting the numbers you lift raw. You say the gym you're at that those lifts are no big deal. But are you really gonna tell me theres another 55 y.o guy there that lifts what you lift raw? :eek: If so, send me some of that water down there in FLA!lol :D I have enjoyed following your progress big guy, best of luck in the meet! :igok:
