Just wanted any feedback about tanning alternatives you've experienced.

I go to the tanning bed like 1once a week for 6 or 7 mins but i doubt this is healthy long term.

My choices are what lotion or melanotan ? Did you have any sides with melanotan ?

Melatonin is a sleeping aid, it's melanotan you're after.

You could have been as pasty as me and tired as an old dog, lol

Gotcha, prettymuch thought those were my choices.

The spray tan seems to be a good choice, had it done once.... But like you said would need to go 1* 5 days at 30 a pop..

Maybe im just doomed to be pasty :(

Nothing wrong with being pasty, just tell people you're of Scottish descent and they'll stop hassling you ;)

LOL ;)

Spray Tan booths seem to be a healthy alternative but require frequent sessions (1x every 3-5 days) and are rather pricey in copmparison.

Melanotan I and the more commonly used peptide, Melanotan II CAN cause very noticeable freckles in people and from what I've read, they still advise you to tan (although it is not required). Supposedly, the freckles dissipate upon cessation.

Mystic Tan is crap as it turns you orange similar to OTC sunless tanners.

I've read alot about those freckles not going away. I had a good buddy who was one of the 50 percentile that got the raised freckle/basically moles that didn't go away. He was especially depressed because his skin went back to pale white but those freckles/moles stayed raised and dark as hell, making them really prominent. He wasn't a freckly person(or it wasn't noticable). I got a more olive like complexion and thought I'd still go for it. But then I saw some pictures of other people just like him and some who had skin like mine and got scared off. Might not happen. It seems like a crapshoot. Just not worth it. I also (about 9 years ago) took these tanning pills (script kind can't remember the name off hand). With these they heighten your sensitivity. I got burned really bad from those and I don't burn too easy unless I go crazy. Need to protect your eyes with good UV glasses after taking for like 24 hrs. Interestingly on the inserts it says one of the possible side effects is "herpes". I don't understand that one but that's what it said. I'm like wtf? Take a pill that gives you herpes?

Loke, herpes simplex is one of the few viruses which isn't killed by sunlight, maybe due to the heightened sensitivity to UV amage, it may also heighten the susceptibility to the virus?

Could be. Which is kinda in line with what I was thinking: Everybody(or a very large percentage) at some point has had exposure to the herpes virus(such as chicken pox) it's just held in check by immune complexes/immune system. The pills action is based on a heightened imflammitory response from increased uv susceptability. So maybe at first it lower inflamitory response/suppresses immune response. Then there is an increased rebound effect. However during that suppression the herpes virus gains strength. Somehow uv's not effecting it but effecting everything else factors in. I don't know though... :)

That's impressive Loke, hit it right on the head. Herpes is what's referred to as an opportunistic infection. Individuals with a compromised immune system are more likely to contract an opportunistic infection.

Immunosuppressive drugs or immunomodulating drugs such as Tacrolimus, teratogenic agents; Accutane, Soriatane (medications that may cause birth defects, and stay out of the sun with these babies ), and Corticosteroids.

Loke is a smart dude.. I think he's smarter that most give him credit for.

We thought you were too, where was your input on that one??
Don't matter, between the 3 of us we figured it out :ance2:
But as a doc, do you concur?

melanotan is great if you can tan still every now and then. I did have some moles come up though that I didnt like. I guess I was lucky they went away afterwards.

I think I remember there being a cetain mineral that is supposed to help avoid them being so bad.. I dunno

MT2 is pretty amazing stuff

I had some freckles get darker, but after 3 weeks I was savage dark and you couldn't see any freckles.

The key is starting off very low at first, like .25mg eod. Never take more than .5mg ed. The people who suffered the most sides were taking 1-2mg ed which is what you need to experience the sexual sides.

I didn't use it this year but have the last two.

I didn't get new freckles just a few darkened and they did lighten.

I am skin type 2 so I normally burn bad and it takes awhile to get a tan.
