Who truly believe the mind is the strongest muscle in their body? Arnold preached it for years. Was he right??
The "biggest secret" I have learned in bodybuilding is understanding ones self through a process of relationships, with a totally (free mind). "Effort" within the mind further limits our mind, because effort implies that we are "stuggling" towards a bodybuilding goal, a purpose, an end in view, you have placed a "limitation" on the mind.
NOTE: For example; the "failed dieting down syndrome"..It's all in the mind when one fails on their diet. Simply said, we talk our selves out of dieting by thinking about it all the time.. Ever notice how the most successful bodybuilders usually have the mentality of doing things without second guessing themselves?
How many repetitive questions have we all been quilty of asking over the years in regards to getting a better body, when the answer was right there in front of us all along? The only way to find the truth is to examine the problem. Sounds simple enough, but how many of us actually do this? The "problem" is never apart from the "answer". The problem is the answer-understanding the problem resolves the problem.
NOTE: The mind is originally without activity; the way to succeed in bodybuilding is always without much thought. In other words don't dwell on your goals or you'll burn your self out on reaching that goal. It's called psyching out ones ownself!!!!!!!!!!!!
Concentration in the gym is a form of exclusion and where there is exclusion, there is a thinker who excludes. It is the thinking bodybuilder, the excluder, the one who is able to concentrate, who creates contradictions because they are able to form a center from which there is a distraction.
NOTE:Concentration is narrowing down the mind. The ability to block out muscle pain-fatique through concentration during an intense set. Arnold was the master at doing this during his training. Was it Arnold's "strong mind" that allowed him to do such a high volume routine and yet excel???????
Classical concentration that focuses on one thing and excludes others, and awarness, which is total and excludes nothing, are states of the mind that can be understood, "non-prejudiced observations".
NOTE: Awarness has no undeveloped spheres of knowledge; putting forth all ones effort as a bodybuilder, without exclusion determines your ultimate success. Bodybuilders need to put everything together as a whole, such as their diet, training, rest, drug selection, and genetics. Not do things in a half assed manner just because the masses at the gym are doing so. Awareness can brings about pre-concieved ideas which keep us from reaching our goals. Start with a clean slate, a fresh mind, and avoid negative people who bring you down or discourage you.
Overanalyzing is not freedom because all thought is partial and can never be total. Why? Because of our biggest enemy, "MEMORY," the result of prior experiences. If doing legs was hard last week and your dreading doing legs the up and coming week you have fallen victim to past experience.
NOTE:Remember the reaction of the mind is conditioned by "experience" and negative experience would be remembering the amount of weight used on the last workout . Itmust be erased from the memory in order to over-come the mental block of not being able to move up in weight on a particular exercises.
That my friends sums up our biggest asset or enemy in bodybuilder."OUR MIND"!!! Did I forget to mention I am a psychology major...lol :iggthumpu
