Yesterday I went to my daughter's Time Trials Event for Winter Swimming, where the swimmers get a beginning season time for each event so they know where they stand. It also lets the coaches choose their roster. Anyway, my 10year-old daughter did very well. She now stands for 10 and under girls 6th on the team in the 50 yard butterfly, 50 yard backstroke, 50 yard breast-stroke, 5th in the 100 yard IM and 100 yard freestyle and 9th in the 50 yard freestyle. I guess playing water polo the past wo months did her well in preparation for Winter Swimming. She went home with her Mom as I was on the motorcycle. (Truck is not done yet!) Anyway as I walked to my motorcycle I noticed a strange double-white stripe going up the back tire. "Is that salt," I thought? It looked very odd until I got close enough to see what it was, then my eyes got very big and an, "Oh, Sh*t!" became the call of the day. Damn, no wonder the past few days on my 1,550 mile road trip the bike felt like it was running on rubber snakes! This is definitely one for the "You-are-very-lucky-and-a-Moron File!!! This picture was taken yesterday. Here's what I saw...

Ouch...that sure must been one close call!

And congrats on your daughter's making the cut for her swim team. Looks like it will be a good winter after all for you.

just noticed a bubble on the front tire of my ninja. jeez why dem tires gotta be so much money. that is scary doh.

Ordered 2 new Avon Roadrider ties yesterday, about $260. Will install them at my friend's garage on Wednesday or Thursday because he has a tire machine and offered to help (friends again). It's scary to think about how I was driving back from Connecticut on that tire. When I was racing along the Delaware River this guy behind me kept beeping his horn. All I could figure was that I was going too slow for him, so I cranked it up around the curves and dusted him in the rear view. Now I look back and say, "Whew!" (Well, I do have tread left on the sidewalls;)!) From now on I will do an "Army-style, 360 inspection" of the bike before getting on it. Crazy

Road trips, pre trip inspections are a must. Especially if you're loaded with extra gear like camping gear, clothes etc.

One of my favorite maxims, "There's. Othing like a new set of tires!"
