Just crossed my mind. We all do it. But why? I talk on the forums like I'm gay half the time (c'mon you guys are guilty too) In real life I would never say dude or bro. I feel like a faggy surfer or something, but on the boards we're all using Bro, brah, dude, man.....What's the deal? Who started this. When I say bro, I mean it to be like you're one of the guys (that knows my business) and that another bro will be cool with hearing you out when it comes to gym life and AS. If only my crew knew how I talked on hear, they'd probably kick my ass!

Yeah.^ I can't remember, but i think the term Bro, short for Brother, means two lifters having the same brotherhood in terms of lifestyle and sharing a common bond, and our world of the inner circle. Anyone who has been in the "game" for awhile knows the commons bonds of trust, loyalty, and our word.

That's how I see it to, but it's weird because I always feel like a dork when i right it

i really don't like the term since it's over used. also how many times have we seen a potential of future scammer use that term. it should mean something special as lifts and mick-g pointed out but now it's abused so i dropped it. i think it's best left for hulk hogan brother!

Dude, Man, Brother Man, and others are offten used by me. I only use Bro for the boards and the guys I train with.

I grew up using dude most of the time, but I know people who dont lift who use bro frequently.

I kinda like it...but Im in touch with my sexuality, yes bro is short for brother and or brotherhood

The term is used by serious lifters in the gyms in my area.

Same here. I know no one would accuse most of us who use it of being gay or surfer like. You dont see many gays hanging out in the power racks. Its used as a term that shows a little respect. At least around here.

the gay guys are the one's standing around the cardio equipment toweling off their sweat all of the time - from watching you squat!!!!! LOL

Thanks for that mental image. I really could have done without it.

Have you ever noticed how hard it is to stress emotion or get a point across without using a smiley or little accessory words like that. People dont know if your pissed or your laughing, so I think this is why some of this gets over used sometimes.

very true. i forget to use the smileys and sometimes people misread what i've typed. since this is an expressionless way of talking they are needed at times. i just too lazy to use them
