Am I being stubborn for NOT wanting to believe this :chimney: I hate it when my head gets fucked with :nono:

Someone please enlighten me here, I'm bored :layboy:

http://www.quiktrip.com/gasoline/myth.asp

The word premium doesn't have anything to do with the quality of gasoline. It has more to do with the price.
Premium gasoline costs more for two reasons. It costs more to make. And, there's more profit added to premium by refiners and retailers. But, premium gasoline doesn't cost more because it is better.

Premium gasoline has a higher octane rating. Higher octane is only one thing: an index which indicates the gasoline's ability to overcome knocking or pinging in engines. That's all. If your car doesn't knock or ping on lower octane gasoline, paying for higher octane is a waste of your money.

Higher octane does not mean better quality and it will not result in more power, better performance, greater gas mileage or anything else.

Some high performance cars were designed to run on premium gasoline. In that case, the owner's manual will clearly state you should use only premium gasoline in that vehicle. That's what premium was made for.

Why does QuikTrip expose the premium myth? After all, we stand to make more money as long as some people continue to believe the myth.

The economics of doing the right thing are pretty simple. QuikTrip gives you the facts rather than trying to sell you myths. You test the facts and find they are true. You save money. You buy more gasoline from QuikTrip. We overcome any short-term loss by selling more gasoline.

You win. We win. It's that simple.

I worked in the auto industry for a while and IMO unless you have high compression or turbo unit, stick top the cheap shit.

I use the higher octane shit because I notice alot better gas milege with it, also my car is said to require it in the owners manual. I buy Indian gas which is about .25 a gallon cheaper than white mans gas stations gas :rainbow:

some economy cars will ping and miss if you run premium instead of regular

I am a cheap bastard so I always go with the least expensive gas. Matter of fact, I don't think I ever payed for premium gas.

Heads up... just because the pump says Premium doesn't mean it is. If there is any product left on the truck when it unloads... it goes into the Premium storage tank. So what you think is Premium may actually be a "blended-down" version with Regular in it.

i dont trust those gas stations anyway.....it says it gave me 10 gallons, but probably only gave me 9.5 or something...you know they are trying to make as much money as they can.....

An octane rating is the ability to resist pinging, it has nothing to do with it being cleaner. I've seen people putting 91+ in their damn Honduh Civics, come on man.

I've run 87 octane in 11.4:1 compression setups just fine, knock sensors work great these days I tell you.

Yup...

We use 114octane, but it's because it's a race car...

If you have alum. heads, you can basically run up to around ~11:1 without any problems with street gas...(drop about a point of CR if you're running iron heads)...

Currently I'm running 94 w/ 10.4:1 CR with iron heads...

Also, it depends quite abit on your timing setup...
