I went to a UFC non-pro fight on Saturday. It was put on by KTK (konquer the Kage).. All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I've been to fights before, but for some reason this was the event to be at. There were 11 fights (which was actually a small showing) and 3 title matches.

The event started strong with an elbow thrust knockout within 20 seconds of round one.

As the matches went on, all I can say is I have never seen so many knees to the head in my life! That left the competitors quite bloody. :mox:

But the last match was definately worth the ticket price.... The last match was a title fight match against one guy with street fighting and ju jit su skills and the other with wrestling and boxing skills. Well the fight was amazing.... One roundhouse kick to the head and the wrestler dropped to the mat, hard. He didn't regain conscienceness for about 5 mins. The match was over within 14 seconds. Talk about the audience tearing the roof off! It was amazing!

Of course afterwards, we all ended up watching the UFC championship on television.

Nothing quite like watching the technique and skill of those brave enough to step into the UFC/MMA ring. Whether Pro or not I'm impressed!:eertoast:

Watching pro's is a whole other ballgame!

Knees and elbows is what makes Muay Thai so much better than its rippoff counterpart Kickboxing (invented by Japanese because MT was too hardcore).

I was training at a local MMA facility in hopes to get into the UFC. A friend of mine is on his way to getting a contract with the UFC. He speciallizes in greco-roman/freestyle, muay thai and a little bit of sombo. I would have faught in chuck and titos weight class, light heavy weights. I think I could give chuck a run for his money......then again maybe not.

not quite true my friend - the very old traditional Japanese version of kickboxing had vicious and I mean vicious leg kicks, take downs and a few other nasty things - thai boxing is nasty too but IMO one of the nastiest systems out there is still the old Marine Corps hand to hand CQB

it was really when karate became Americanized that alot of those cool but nasty things were taken out of it - SPORT KARATE they called it back in the early 80's when it was really hot - I competed all over the mid west at that time and was actually ranked at one time in a national magazine - of course at that time just about anyone was

I remember going to tourmaments and seeing young guys with 5-6 stripes on their black belt - but in the ring they would get killed - it was terrible back then
