im starting a new job soon and am trying to figure out a good complex carb source to add to my shakes. cant be oatmeal to much fat. drawing a blank on this. might just have to blend fruits. any thoughts?

Too much fat in oatmeal?!?! 3 grams in a half a cup. What diet could you be starting that won't allow you that little fat difference? Hell, cook up some whole grain pasta and throw it in there..That's about all I could think of. I'd be interested to see how that turns out to be honest with ya. Lemme know what that tastes like....:spit: :yumyum:

The little fat in oatmeal is negligible at best, plus it's almost all EFA's. What gives?

actually the oatmeal i get is 2.5 g per serving. in this new diet ima be using very lil fat. for my shakes ima use 100% juice and throw in some fiber with it cause the only difference between a whole apple and 100% apple juice is the fiber so it should digest the same.

Can u post up the details of ur diet please? I'm just curious as to what it looks like.

theres alot more difference between a real apple and apple juice besides a bit of fiber. apple juice is pasteurized, boiled. its just sugar water basically. the fruit though has all the phytonutrients, minerals, etc theres so many good things in fruit that scientists still cant classify them all and none of them come thru on the other side when made into grocery store grade juice.

from all the recent research ive done this doesnt seem to be true. its still contains all the vitamins and minerals just no fiber. http://www.fruitjuicefacts.org/pr_release18.html

edit: okmedic i explained my diet a few threads down.

screw it i should just stop being lazy and buy fresh fruit and blend it up.

fructose is good to gain fat on, what diet are you following? Like others said oatmeal is your best bet, unless you can get powdered sweet potatoes.

doing a moderate protien hi carb minimal fat diet. i dont worry about the fructose in fruits. to many beneficial things in fruit to worry about that. i recently was on a bulk diet where i took in all my carbs from fruit alone and stayed leaned. most fruit has a lower GI then oatmeal anyway. i might use oatmeal in one meal, but prolly not. plus you cant premake ur shakes with oatmeal. id have to add water right when i was ready to drink it.

Are you freshly squeezing your own juice? If not like the others mentined they cook all the nutrients out of it. Eating the fruit is a different story, but I'd still stick with oatmeal for a quality shake. Powered oatmeal can be found as well for your premade shakes.

Go with grits man, no fat, not even half a fucking gram. You can get 45grams of carbs with them at 200 calories. The extra calories come from the trace protein, and if that worries you. Cut 1/8th of an ounce off your lean chicken, lol.
