In my case I was skinny, weak and puny. I got tied at an early age of being pushed around by bullies.

i was a occasional lifter when i was younger but mostly played rec / league sports . my son wanted to start lifting so we joined a gym an almost instantly fell in with powerlifters . i tend to go overboard with hobbies and BAM lol.
that was about 20 years ago . my son trains MMA now and my body cant stand the stress of heavy lifting anmore.

Same here Lifts I was little all my life, Then I got a weight set but before then I had one of the old Charles Atlas Isometric workout posters used it forever and lifted to. By the time I was 20 I was beching 300# but by then I had the fever and was hooked! But then was in a bad car wreck and injured my back and took a long hiatus of about 15 to 17 years off now I've got the fever again and refuse to be sidelined again no matter what knee replacemnts, Surgerys slowed me for a short time but not for long..Now @ 218# I'm slowly working my way back to 250# where I was before my knee replacements..

Got started after I changed jobs and worked 3rd shift when I noticed I got fat.

I was 15 at the public pool and had always ate like a bird. This girl I had a chubby for, came up to me and said my chest was bony. Bitch.
Started lifting weights, but never really gained size till I got in the Marines and figured out how to eat. Well, I learned to eat, I just recently learned how to eat right...

Same here Bro, I wished I had the money I blew on all that Joe weidermans weight gainer I drank in my youth!
It took 6 months of talking to Nutnut on the phone for him to beat it in my head I wasn't eating right or enough.. But after he made me a diet I started dropping BF like crazy..

Good thing you didn't...those Joe Weider weight gainers were of pretty dubious value. Just a solid diet and steady exercise work better

my story is pretty much tha same in the other thread.

Use to be a pretty bad drinking, was into a few drugs, fair runamuck, always getting locked up.Spent about 14k on bail agreements, bonds, trial fees and lawyers.
Started to exp paranoia, anxiety, depression, stress etc.
Didnt want to turn to prescriptions to solve my problems so started lifting. My father has always lifted so had some cheap equipment at home. started lifting with no guide, pretty much circut training every day after work.Started reading up on routines and got my shite together, wasnt gaining so joined up on the forums asking about steroids and learnt about everything and now im happy as a pig in shit.

TBH, I was always into the more muscular actors like Arnold and Stallone, and Ferrigno as the Hulk. I also liked He-Man. Sometime during my 8th grade year, I started watching that show on ESDPN "American Muscle," and all the other ones they had on there at the time. This was late 80's and early 90's.

After my 8th grade year, that summer going into high school, I officially became a gymrat!

Started pumping iron for football at age 14, but shortly after seen a Muscle Builder mag with pics of Arnold, Robby, Lou, Mike, etc and that was all she wrote - life changing moment haha. :D

I was the typical skinny kid weighing 140lbs soaking wet in high school... my cousins were in weight training and power lifting and followed in there foot steps.. .they gave me my first barbel and every day after school all I would do is shoulder presses, day in and day out. it would explain my shoudler strength nowadays

basicallly im nerd lol never got bullied really but was never popular had popular friends though if that makes sence anyways i know girls like to say its about the personality but no girl where into me before i started training and even tho im the same person just in shape girls are alot easier to get lol............soooooo basically i started for the pussy

My family isn't into sports, so when I was younger I never gave 2 shits about fitness or health. I grew up at the race track, and for as long as I can remember cars were all I ever cared about. I was overweight and pretty miserable, but never really realized it. I lifted weights on and off my whole life but just because I liked it. About 10 years ago I took a road trip to Washington to pick up another dragster, and someone took a pic of me. I couldn't believe how fat I actually was (300lbs). So I spent a year, dropped 85 pounds, and realized how much happier I was. Now my weight bounces around, I get 6 months of dedicated lifting, then I slack for 6 because of other things going on or projects. My weight creeps up to about 220, and I get nervous and take it back off.

i wrestled when i was 18/19 for ladies professional wrestling leage, glow and wfwa.. lifted back then
after having a kid, gaining 100 pounds, losing over 100 pounds and being hospitalised for anorexia.. i need some changes.. enter lifting

There's a man after my own heart!

Bitches!!!!

No, Same old story. Insecure, no confidence, poor disposition.

Through weight training I've improved substantially. Now I'm insecure, I lack confidence, I have a poor disposition, but now, I have the pleasure of dealing with neurosis.

Yeah to weight-training!!!
