I took the General Science Test on January 12th. It is a Praxis test for state teacher certification in general science for secondary education (high school).
The test had 120 multiple choice questions on
college-level physics, chemistry, biology, earth and space science, and environmental science.
It was a rough test and I have been on pins and needles for a month. The results were available today and I PASSED! Yip-ee-the-f***-aaa!!
I am so happy and relieved.
Now I am certified in K12 Special Education and Earth and Space Science (secondary ed.), but once I get this paperwork back from the state, can add General Science (secondary ed.) to that.
Forteen years of college and all that study is finally paying off. I plan on passing Social Studies, English, Biology (all secondary education), and middle school Math before the end of May. I can go for high school Math in a year or so.
I am going for a HS teaching job in the suburbs, and I realize how much they will have to pay me for my 2 Master Degree's and 7 years of high school teaching experience. I want to make sure they (the school board) can justify doing so by being a super qualified candidate...in essance...a renaissance man!
And to think my father only finished the seventh grade before quitting school after his father died.
Wish he was alive to see this.
