I dont know how many times I have seen people say "Oh but I am eating 5000 cals a day"

BULLSHIT. Plain and simple.

Unless your sitting at 225-250lbs with a REASONABLE bf level, I dont see how in the hell you can even come close to this number.

500 grams of carbs
700 grams of protein
100 grams of fat

totals = 6000 cals

That makes it equal to 8 cups of RAW oats, 4 pounds of chicken post cooking weight, 1 pound of 90% lean ground beef post-cooking weight, and also a PWO shake that is 75g carbs and 60g protein.

I don't know about bullshit - it isn't really that hard to do if you plan it out properly. Unless you're just talking about people that claim they can't grow and are eating that much?

I mean hell - I was eating 4800-5000 a day on DORM FOOD at one point... did a nutritional analysis and recorded everything I was taking in... it was around 30% protein 50% carbs and 20% fat at that time... so it isn't that impossible to do, it just takes a little effort ;)

EDIT: Currently my ratios are nothing like that - but at the time I was just trying to get in what I thought was enough protein... now I'm probably taking in 50% protein, i dont' know I don't pay attention to my macros other than protein.

Good post Stout. I think alot of the calorie push and protein needs tends to be too much IMO.

Sorry late post last night, the point I was trying to get across is with REAL food. I know if you had crap in like pizza, fries, or slop like that its easy to hit the calorie needs. Or even if you add in Nlarge2, that adds an easy 3000 cals there.

But the main point I was trying to get across is how much REAL food it takes to hit that many calories. I see alot of people post oh but I am eating 5000 cals. I wonder what they are talking about when they are sub 200lbs. Now there are going to be cases when there are some people that do hit that amount of cals but 9 times out of 10 its pure bs :)

5000 cal is about right for someone 200+lbs. I'm taking in close to 4000 on training days and i'm way under that weight.

But I agree the average person probably guesses what they take in.

I see what you're saying...

These 150lb guys that say they eat enough and train hard, but can't gain... "But I eat constantly!" No... no you don't... or you would be gaining!!
My training partner is like that... I tell him how he should be eating, he claims "I eat constantly, I probably get in like 4000 calories" ... but as I am running to the kitchen at work to get real food every 3 hours he is sitting there eating his bag raisins and peanuts at his desk. For some reason he just "can't get over 200lbs" ... even though he "eats constantly" ... RIGHT!!! 3 big meals per day plus a bag of peanuts and raisins is not eating constantly!

Exactly! Not to say I am a growing machine myself but, I know a couple people who say that exact thing and they simply have no idea they dont take in enough calories.
