GEMINI
- ruled by the Roman messenger god, Mercury - is associated with communications. Hermes is the god of speech, and he is the god of silence. He is the eternal youth, puer aeternus; he is old man senex messenger to the dead. He is the talisman of the slick talking, road savvy, traveling salesman who is continually chasing down the virtues of the farmer's virginal daughters. He is the protector of merchants and tavern owners. He is the patron and benefactor of pickpockets, highway bandits, thieves, rogues, liars, hucksters, and scoundrels. He is jester, joker, fool, trickster, magician, genius, shaman, and psychopomp.

Mercury is lighter than air itself... Gemini?s quick-witted changeable energy may at times appear to others as being scattered, disorganized and chaotic. But there?s usually method to Gemini?s madness! (Although, truthfully, sometimes even Gemini?s constantly active right hand doesn?t know what his/her constantly moving left hand is up to.) And with the Sun in Gemini, you may also have a maddening tendency to "bend" the truth at times. Gemini energy also tends to be more than a wee bit skeptical of "eternal truths." Gemini is communicative, versatile, can be talkative, and is very curious. Curious, curious, curious... I?ll say it one more time - curious. Gemini energy loves to know how things work. And Gemini energy thrives on knowing what makes other people tick. And when curiosity gets the better of Gemini energy, Gemini may even say scandalous, shocking things or perform outrageous acts for no other purpose or reason than Gemini was "curious" and wanted to see what would happen.

Now, of course, I also know that Gemini can get a bit upset over this notoriety and their alleged expertise in skimming the surface of subjects. But tell the truth... We both know it?s a reputation which has been honestly earned (don?t we, Gemini)? C'mon, you can't kid a kidder!

And one more important thing to know about Gemini... Hermes (Mercury, the ruler of Gemini), by some accounts, was the god who originally owned and wore the "Helmet of Invisibility." This Helmet happens to be the very same Helmet of Invisibility more typically associated with the hidden god of the underworld Hades (Pluto, the ruler of Scorpio). Apparently Hades was merely borrowing the helmet from Hermes. So Mercury (the ruler of Gemini), like Pluto, revels in (and loves) working silently, invisibly behind the scenes. So, while Scorpio is the sign most notorious for being secretive, Gemini is certainly no slacker in the area of being secretive and keeping things under their hat.

TAURUS
Taurus is a "fixed earth sign." For the Sun placed in earth - life is a world of concrete reality and sensory perception, with roots solidly built on earthy, physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses... With the Sun in Taurus? Whatever cannot be touched, heard, smelled, seen or tasted is either denied or made as concrete and tangible as possible.

Taurean energy, ruled by the planet of Venus, has built itself a reputation for being possessive and valuing material things. But the apparent materialistic outlook of Taurus is not primarily based on high-minded and/or ideological beliefs. It?s just that Taurean energy feels a heck of a lot safer when owning plenty of real, solid, possessions. Taurus says: "I feel oh so much safer when I can HOLD onto something solid, real, and tangible in my hands (and in my heart). Taurus, being in the element of earth, has a consciousness sold on physical security... sold on "the here and the now." Of all the earth signs, Taurus energy has the greatest need for physical security. And the search for security can often tend to make Taurus a wee bit conservative, possessive, and practical.

Taurus is also the Zodiacal sign with the greatest need for having a sense of inner self-worth and value. To accomplish this task, Taurus needs a solid sense of internal harmony that goes deep down into his/her innermost marrow and bones. Among other things, this need for inner-harmony means that Taurus needs to sense that he/she is being practical, productive, and fruitful. Don't kid yourself. Taurus is not necessarily seeking this harmony in order to please another person, the world, or even his/her God. In doing this, it seems to me that Taurus is ultimately seeking a sense of inner-quiet, harmony, and serenity within him or herself. Taurus seeks a solid sense of inner-quiet, harmony, and serenity that says: "all is well in the moment" (and all is well in my immediate surrounding environment).

One more thing, Taurus... Scorpio most often gets the nod for being the "sex sign." But we both know a little secret (don't we). The earth sign Taurus is specifically associated with survival "through awareness of the senses." Associated with the garden of paradise... Taurus reflects a childlike innocence and naivet? concerning the senses and the fulfillment of instinctual sexual needs. Barring other factors in the chart - of all the signs, you feel the strongest instinctual urge and need for touching and caressing. When it comes down to experiencing pure unbridled physical pleasure and sensuality, Taurus is often in a category all its own.

Aries energy - motivated by inspiration and aspiration! Spontaneity! Ready for encounter! Fire on the mountain! The Fire energy of Aries can be warm, vital, vivacious, cheerful and loyal to whatever happens to hold its interest. Fire energy craves freedom and opportunity.... yep, a steady stream of opportunity for new experiences.

Element of Fire
Fire energy can be assertive, competitive, ambitious and full of confidence for the future. Fire energy learns best when actively engaging and grabbing hold of life. Fire loves adventure and hates routine! To be potent and active is a key self-concept for Aries.

When reading all 12 of the Labors, it's fascinating to make note of the many connections between Hercules' 12 Labors and the Zodiac Signs of Aries and Scorpio, both of which were traditionally ruled by the warrior planet Mars. The 12 Labors of Hercules include plenty of good hard fighting action and adventure with Hercules constantly being confronted with and alternatively challenging the powers of the underworld and death.

The Pioneer
Aries is the pioneering energy of the Zodiac. As such, Aries is quick to take action, initiative, and get things rolling. However, Aries really doesn?t prefer to be the one responsible for "the long haul" and/or seeing things through. (It?s generally better to leave that sort of thing to a nice dependable earth sign like Capricorn or Virgo.

Cancer:
Sun in Cancer

Before getting started, Sun Sign Cancer... we both know that we've never seen or read a totally satisfying description of the Zodiac Sign Cancer. I can't begin to tell you how many Sun Sign Cancers complain about the how the typical descriptions of Cancer don't fit them. (I could take a "cheap shot" about nagging and complaining, but I won't go there.) Sadly, I doubt I'll do much better in my modest attempt to describe the energies of Cancer. Why?

The Element of Water: Cancer is located in the astrological element of Water. Of the four astrological elements (Fire, Earth, Air, and Water) - Water is the most ancient, primitive, and instinctual. Being the most primal element, Water is also the element furthest away from rational, describable, consciousness and thought. Thus, Water energy tends to defy our meager attempts at coming up with rational explanations and descriptions. Astrologically, the element of water is associated with feeling, sensitivity, and emotion. All three Signs placed in the element of Water (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) are rather difficult to describe and/or measure out their true essence. However... Cancer, ruled by the mysterious Moon of the night, is perhaps the Water Sign furthest removed from "light of day" consciousness and description. At least that's my story (and I'm sticking to it.).

Trivia: Want to know two of the most fascinating bits of traditional trivia regarding the ancient descriptions of the Zodiacal Sign Cancer? I thought so... First - believe it or not - none of the ancient descriptions of Cancer mentioned the words "mother," "cooking," or "cleaning" a single time. The second bit of trivia is that prior to being named the constellation of Cancer, your constellation was known as "the Asses' Crib." What's that about? (Actually, you can check out the description of the Cancer constellation to find out the answer to that.)

Okay... okay... I've stalled long enough... truth is that I know I'm quite safe in your thoughtful and caring hands. I never cease to be amazed at how many of you kind Cancer folks write in to reassure me that I've done a pretty good job. So I'll go ahead and give this my best shot.

Traditional Characteristics: Nurturing, protective, tenacious, emotional sensitivity, and valuing strong traditional roots. Cancer is the archetypal image of the bond between mother and son (as well as the bond between father and daughter)... Ruled by the ever-changing, but ever faithful Moon - Cancer reflects the mysterious, continual cycles of nature... Cancer reflects the ebb and flow of the tides - and, as such, reflects the ebb and flow of emotions. This varying (ebb and flow) moods of "wild child" Cancerians are often a puzzlement to everyone around, including the Cancer Sun who's having the mood. However, from the very beginning of time, the Moon was seen by our most ancient ancestors as nurturing and generous - yet paradoxically could likewise be an undependable, clever, and dangerous trickster. Ouch!

The Lunar Paradox: To better demonstrate this trickster Lunar paradox, I'll share with you a traditional African folk tale: "Sun and Moon are real siblings. They played clever tricks on each other. Moon said to Sun: we want to throw our children into the water. The Sun agreed. When the agreed upon time came, Moon hid its children, searched for white pebbles and put them in a sack. Sun, however knew nothing about this and really did take all of its children and put them in a sack. So they set out on their way and came to the bank of a river. Moon emptied its pebble filled sack and emptied it into the river. Thus the Sun was deceived and shook its children into the river." (Afrikanische Marchen; C. Meinhof) Luna, Queen of the Heavens (the Moon), is now always accompanied by her children (the stars) of the night. The Sun's children became fish, populated the waters, and now feed humankind.

Emotional Sensitivity to Surroundings: People with the Sun in Cancer generally thrive and flourish best when developing an emotional relationship with their immediate surroundings. Hard cold logic doesn't have the chance of a proverbial snowflake in a snowstorm when it comes to the energies of Cancer. This is because Cancer's strong preference is to evaluate everyone and everything in terms of feelings and values. "How will I feel if I do that?" "Will I still be able to live with myself if I say that?" You also tend to show your feelings more readily than do the other water signs (Scorpio and Pisces) and so may feel incredibly vulnerable because others seem to have easy access to your emotional life. This is part of why you may often resort to the infamous "Crab Sidestep" - in the attempt to hide your highly sensitive nature from others.

Because of this emotional sensitivity, the "Crab" is seldom genuinely comfy and cozy when in a wider and more impersonal social setting, So you may tend to create a small, enclosed environment (called a home) and honor only a very few select people by allowing them into your sphere of influence. However, with those powerful Crab pinchers of yours, once you do allow someone or something into your sphere - you often experience great difficulty letting go (even when you know you ought to). This stubborn refusal of emotionally letting go applies to people, traditions, and possessions. Remember that piece of kite string you acquired thirty years ago and squirreled away in the very back of a dresser drawer? Yep, better hang on to that piece of kite string. You never know when you might need it for something useful... That rainy day you've been planning for? It might end up being tomorrow. One never knows about these things, do they?

As fixed fire, Leoian energy is much more self-reflective and inner-directed than the average person might ever suspect. Although, since you?re reading this description, it means your Sun is placed in Leo and that morsel of insightful information shouldn?t be much of a revelation. Over the years you?ve learned that, first and foremost, you have to be able to live with and please yourself. You have the strong, burning inner-desire for self-authenticity. So, "to thine own self be true" could be another really good Leoian motto.

Ruled the Sun, creative Leoian energy is colored by an overall strong sense of drama and "bigness." Leo sees the "big picture" of possibilities for the future and for success. Let's do something extra special for the Zodiac Sign of Leo ruled by the Sun. Rather than doing the normal thing, looking to Greek mythology, I thought I'd suggest your reading a special story that Rabbi (and astrologer) Joel Dobbins calls the story of the first "star-crossed" lovers in the Judaic/Christian scriptures. I don't mind telling you that this was one of my very favorite bible stories while growing up. The story I want you to read is a story of big action, big violence, big lust, big betrayal, big game playing, big bets, big egos, big revenge, and (last, but not least) big hair. And no, believe it or not, it's not the story of my life?

According to Rabbi Dobbins, it's an "opposites attract" love story between a Leo man (ruled by the Sun) and an Aquarius woman (ruled by Saturn and Uranus). Believe it or not, you're likely already more than a wee bit familiar with this story contained in the Book of Judges. It's the story of Samson and Delilah. You know... Samson is the guy who couldn't cut his hair, killed a lion, was betrayed by his woman Delilah, ended up blind, and (in the end) managed to single handedly bring down a pagan temple.

So why, you might ask, does Rabbi Dobbins call Samson and Delilah "star-crossed" lovers? One of things that Rabbi Dobbins knows (that you likely don't know) is that the name Samson means, "belonging to the Sun." Even more interesting (and more "telling") is that Delilah's name means, "she of Aquarius." Aquarius is the Zodiac Sign opposite the Zodiac Sign of Leo ruled by the Sun. According to Rabbi Dobbins, the story of Samson is divided into two parts, the prologue and the main tale concerning Delilah. The period of time that passes between the prologue and the story of Delilah is 20 years. The prologue, which is the longer part of the story, establishes the character of Samson. The character revealed in the prologue is that which is, oh so, typical of a young studdly Leo male in his prime. The Delilah part of the story tells us of an older Leo past his prime. (And do any of you old hippie types out there remember Sun Sign Leo David Crosby's "Leo anthem" of the late 1960s "I Almost Cut My Hair.") If you can't remember the details of the full story, then maybe it's time to dig out that Bible you've got tucked away somewhere.

VIRGO

Virgo? Here are a few key words and phrases: earthy, practical, and discriminating. Save the day... preserve things... build bridges... fix things... being of service... solving practical problems... Any of this sound even vaguely familiar, Virgo?
I thought so... But hang in there with me until the end. If you stay with me until the very end, you might even hear a few new and surprising thoughts about the sign of Virgo.

Perfectionism
One of the main keys to understanding Virgo (that I failed to mention just above)? "Perfectionism." Virgo is constantly aiming toward the eternally elusive goal of being "perfect." At the same time, Virgo is painfully aware they're lacking in the area of perfection and constantly coming up short of their goal. Because of this unconscious need for perfection, Virgo has gained the reputation of being the Zodiacal "neat freak." And unfortunately because Virgo often extends their unconscious need for perfection to the people around them, Virgo has also earned the reputation of being overly critical in their interactions with loved ones.

C'mon... you've heard the tired old traditional line of thought? It's been said that Virgos have never found a house that they couldn't clean just a little bit better. However, as shocking as it might seem - many Virgos are total, absolute slobs when it comes to picking up around the house. True enough... some Virgos are typically into organization, discrimination, and neatness in their surrounding physical environment (thus the reputation). However, on the other hand, many other Virgos are into "mental" neatness and have the tidiest, most organized minds you'll ever hope to come across in this (or any other) lifetime. So some Virgos are primarily into "physical" manifestations of neatness, many other Virgos are primarily into "mental" organization, and some Virgos fall into the middle and are into a little of both.

Practical Intelligence
With the Sun in Virgo, you are hardwired to be especially attuned to the element of in Earth... The element of Earth is a world of concrete reality, sensory perception, and roots built on earthy, physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses... The Sun in Earth is a consciousness sold on physical security - sold on the here and the now. And the search for security can often tend to make one a wee bit conservative and practical.

Ruled by Mercury, Virgo energy often "shimmers" with intelligence. As with it?s flightier cousin, Gemini, (also ruled by Mercury) Virgo is a "mental" sign. However, Virgo?s Mercurian intelligence is directed toward practical matters and practical solutions. And Virgo desperately wants to be of practical service by fixing things, situations, or people. Virgo is the one Zodiac sign with the innate ability to literally turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. And, whether it's in Virgo's physical surroundings or in their neatly organized minds, Virgo energy enjoys focusing in on the very smallest of details.

Hestia's Hearth
As the Celestial Virgin of the Zodiac, Virgo is traditionally associated with several different virgin goddesses. However, I prefer a somewhat "off the beaten track," nontraditional association for the Zodiac Sign of Virgo. I associate Virgo with a virgin goddess by the name of Hestia. It's quite possible you may have never even heard of the virgin goddess, Hestia?... Although she was one of the twelve Olympian deities, Hestia has no grand stories or myths depicting her deeds among mortals - and there were almost no ancient images of Hestia. Further, there were no Greek temples devoted specifically to her...

However, Hestia's consecrated and sacred hearth could be found in the center of each and every temple honoring the other Greek gods and goddesses... Hestia's hearth could also be found in every home.

Hestia's hearth was an ancient ancestor of today's modern utility of convenience and comfort, called the "central heating unit." Still more aptly, I remember the "ancient" gas furnace of my childhood home. Our "hearth" was located in the center of our home - with vents for each of the rooms directly adjoining the central furnace. I remember - on especially cold winter nights - my older sister and I jockeying back and forth for the honored spot directly in front of the living room vent. It's a good bet that Hestia's hearth was equally honored on cold nights in ancient Greece...

Hestia's Wholeness
Hestia's deep abiding presence was in the center of each and every fire - and Hestia's fire served to make sacred whatever place it dwelled. As mentioned previously, Hestia's hearth could be found in every Greek temple and in every Greek home. As such, Virgonian energies archetypically tend to center around issues of spirituality and the home.

As such, the life giving imago and symbol of Hestia's quiet, warm, centering energies can potentially provide Virgo with a deep sense of "centered wholeness." When Virgo finally "gives up the ghost" and allows Hestia to fill them with her qualities and attributes, Virgo is then initiated into the eternal mysteries of the virgin goddesses. And what are the eternal mysteries of the virgin goddesses? Simply put... that true perfection (telios) lies within the deep inner affirmation and inner "knowing" that simply being who you are, and being centered in who you are, is "good enough." Thus, the quiet and unimposing example of the virgin goddess Hestia can serve as Virgo's redemption by setting Virgo free from the curse of "Perfectionism." When (and if) this happens (often occurring later in life), then Virgo can finally let go of the compulsive need to capture the elusive, unobtainable butterfly of "Perfectionism." (I told you to hang in there with me...)

Virginal?
One final note... regarding the concept of "virginity" as associated with Virgo (and with the other virgin goddesses of ancient Greece)? It's not that the virgin goddesses disliked men - and it's not that they were "virgins" in the manner the term "virgin" is typically used today. In ancient Greece, being a virgin (unmarried) goddess simply meant they lived their lives for themselves... Although Hestia's life was focused on the home (and the many practical tasks regarding running the home) - as with the other virgin goddesses of ancient Greece - her life did not revolve (or center) around the pleasing of a mate (whether god or mortal).

Virginal, cold, frigid? Think again! As I said in the beginning, whenever the Sun is placed in the astrological element of earth - it's a world of concrete reality, sensory perception, and roots built on earthy, physical sensations. The Sun in earth feels most comfortable when surrounded with the world of the five senses... sense of touch, sound, smell, sight, and taste. Sounds downright hot, sexy, and sensual, doesn't it? In the privacy of their own home (and behind closed doors), Virgonian energy may be anything other than what one might typically associate with being "virginal." Whew! (Wiping the cold sweat from my brow...)

Everything (everyone) is open to analysis. Even-handed, harmonious, artistic, diplomatic, balancing, and strong sense of aesthetic beauty are characteristics typically associated with Libra.

Zeus wisely determined that the mortal man Paris - being a young, macho, virile stud - (not unlike myself) should judge which of the three goddesses was the most beautiful.

The three goddesses were accompanied by the messenger god, Hermes, who explained the entire situation to the mortal Paris. Paris first tried squirming his way out of this fix by saying that all the goddesses were equally beautiful and it was surely impossible to make a such a decision. Unfortunately for Paris, splitting the prize was not an option that the three goddesses were willing to accept. However, each of goddesses swore not to hold a grudge if another was selected as the most beautiful (being young and naive, Paris actually believed them).

The first goddess to offer Paris gifts was Hera... (Hera was the wife of Zeus - and now you know why Zeus had wisely decided to bow out....) Hera offered Paris power, wealth and prestige. Next up was the warrior goddess Athena... She offered Paris wisdom and bravery in battle. Finally, it the was seductive Aphrodite's turn... and Aphrodite offered Paris the gift of love, beauty, desire, and passion...

Three Guesses?
Okay, I'll give you three guesses which one of the three goddesses Paris chose that day as being the most beautiful (and the first two guesses don't count)... Mighty Aphrodite (and her gift of love, beauty, desire and passion) was of course the clear choice for our young hero, Paris.

The Consequences...
Hera and Athena turned away with heavy frowns visibly showing on their faces - and both goddesses were, from that moment on, enemies to all of the Trojan race (seems they'd already forgotten their promise not to hold a grudge).

Making an already very long story short - Paris (already married) later met Helen of Troy ("the face that launched a thousand ships"), and they fell madly in love with one another. Therefore, Aphrodite made good her promise to Paris with the beautiful (but also already married) Helen. Unfortunately, the choice Paris made (and the resulting passionate love match) then led directly to the bloody, tragic Trojan Wars. The Trojan Wars lasted fourteen years, thousands died, and the entire Trojan civilization was destroyed.

One of the Gorgon Sisters
The Gorgon sisters were the three ladies who turned men into stone just by looking at them. Once upon a time, the Gorgons were beautiful, desirable women. The most beautiful of the sisters, Medusa, happened to catch the attention of the god Poseidon (the god of the oceans and waterways). Smitten with desire for Medusa, Poseidon set out about seducing her... And to make a long story short, they got together for one grand and glorious night of wild, passionate lovemaking in the temple of Athena.

Unfortunately, the temple of Athena was an extremely bad choice of places to get together and do the wild thing... Athena (being a chaste, virgin goddess) was terribly offended by this sort of rude and crude behavior going on in her sacred temple... And so, Athena's punishment was to curse Medusa and her two sisters with sheer, unadulterated ugliness and with writhing, venomous snakes growing out of their heads! In spite of their monstrous condition, the sisters were terrifyingly beautiful and seductive to behold. No man encountering the infamous Gorgons (knowing it was instant death) could avert his gaze from the terrifyingly beautiful Gorgon sisters...

Perseus
We learn the most about the Gorgons in the adventures of the Greek hero, Perseus. (You may remember this story from that movie "The Clash of the Titans" starring Sun Sign Scorpio, Harry Hamlin.) For various reasons, Perseus has foolishly (yet heroically) sworn to a king that he (Perseus) will bring back the head of the dreaded Medusa on a platter. (Of the three Gorgon sisters, only the Medusa was mortal and could be killed...)

Perseus, aided by gifts of Athena and Hermes (a golden shield and a swift sword) locates the cave of the Gorgons. Luckily for Perseus, the Gorgons were sleeping soundly. But Perseus can't avert his eyes from the seductive beauty of the Medusa (still fast asleep). Only after much effort is Perseus able to look away from the Medusa... The Medusa then wakes up; and a battle ensues between Perseus and the Medusa. Using the golden shield of Athena, Perseus is able to see the Medusa's reflection. And with Hermes' swift sword, Perseus cuts off the Medusa's head. (Settle down... I'm about to get to the Pegasus part!)

Medusa and Scorpio
Face it... it doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to see a connection between the Medusa and Scorpionic energies... Wherever you find Scorpionic/Plutonian energies in the birth chart, you'll likely find the Medusa lurking in the shadows nearby... Intensity and betrayal are often a couple of the Medusa's favorite themes.

Tell the truth, Scorpio... turned anyone into stone with your dark, powerful Scorpionic gaze lately? That "stone cold glare" which informs the recipients that they might as well not exist on this (or any other) planet... Okay, okay. I know they probably did something deserving of "the dreaded look." Pegasus?

At the time of her death, the Medusa carried within her womb the hero Chrysaor and the winged steed Pegasus. So when the Medusa's head was severed at the neck, Chrysaor and Pegasus sprang out. Perseus, then, escaped the remaining Gorgon sisters by riding away on the back of Pegasus.

Think about it... The energies giving life to the Medusa were, in the end result, the very same energies which gave birth to the winged horse, Pegasus. Through the cutting off of her head, the Medusa was released from her curse and torment. Thus, learning lessons of mental detachment are often rather crucial in the continued growth and lives journeys of those strong in Scorpionic/Plutonic energies. (So "losing your head" can, in fact, be a good thing.)

In many ways, the Medusa symbolizes the curse of Scorpio and Pluto- however Pegasus is the final redemption and rebirth of Scorpio and Pluto set free! So Scorpio, the next time some gorgeous gal or guy walks up to you and asks, "What your sign?" Go ahead and tell them you were born under the sign of Pegasus.

Aquarius

The Sun in the element of air... stimulated mentally, detached perspective... Motivated and recharged by intellectual concepts, social interchanges and the communication of ideas and/or ideals... The element of air (barring other factors) tends to produce a fairly active mind. The world is approached with reason and everything (everyone) is open to analysis.

Aquarius generates a friendly, people-oriented mental energy. Unconventional, friendly, unpredictable and innovative are all characteristics of Aquarius. You thrive on originality and may be a bit rebellious. You may even be considered a wee bit eccentric.

Epimetheus (hindsight) immediately jumped in and created all sorts of interesting animals. Due to his lack of foresight, Epimetheus lavished all the totally awesome gifts on the animals.

Prometheus, then, set about creating men. Prometheus created the forms of these men from out of the elements earth and water - and then Athena, goddess of wisdom, bestowed ?soul? to the lifeless forms by bringing butterflies (psyche) to them. But when Prometheus finished shaping man, he discovered that Epimetheus had already handed out all the good gifts to the animals. There were very few good gifts left over to give to humans. Forever being inventive and resourceful, Prometheus decided this just wouldn't do! So he went before Zeus and asked if it would be okay if his mortals could have some of Zeus' sacred fire. However Zeus told Prometheus no, and further said that fire belonged to the gods alone. It seems Zeus thought that mortal men would become arrogant if they possessed the wonderful blessing of fire.

Being rebellious, Prometheus stole some fire from the hearth of Zeus and gave it to his mortals anyway. As a result of having the gift of fire, humanity no longer had to endure cold, bitter nights. And because the other animals feared the light of fire? They stopped attacking men.

As mentioned eariier, Prometheus literally means "foresight." And much to his credit, he also taught humanity mathematics, metalworking, architecture, and writing.

PISCES

There's a famous quote by Sun Sign Pisces, Albert Einstein: "Imagination is more important than knowledge." The full quote goes on to say: "Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." Reportedly, one of this famous Pisces' methods of getting in touch with his inner source of creativity was to imagine in his mind's eye - the numbers he was working with. He, then, allowed the numbers to "dance freely" within his imagination. (I don't know about you, but I figure I'm doing pretty good to manage a shaky two-step when I'm dealing with numbers.)

Pisces, at it's best and most fruitful, is about meeting and responding to the natural rhythms of life with an open, imaginative, expectant, and adaptable attitude. The Zodiacal sign of Pisces is about being receptive to whatever comes your way, and then synthesizing it into the source of a totally new, unique, and imaginative creation.

All the doors you needed opened are "unexpectedly" opened. Questions are answered and/or doors are are "miraculously" and "unexpectedly" opened with little or no "conscious" effort on your part. Likewise, you've discovered that if you interfere by trying to take control matters when facing a crisis situation - then all the right answers mysteriously vanish and all the open doors slam shut on your toes.

Typical descriptions of the Sun in Pisces are that you are an imaginative, sensitive, and serene individual. You feel the need to express and bring life to your fantasies, imagination and creativity. As a result, you may tend be a dreamer and a wee bit ungrounded in regard to the practicalities of everyday life. The magician like shape shifting qualities of Pisces inevitably become your strongest bulwark and defense for survival in the world. This is especially going to be the case for males having the Sun in Pisces. The problem is, you see... the Zodiacal sign of Pisces asks us to give up the sense of needing absolute, complete control over our life course, journey, and destiny. But the sad fact is that we live in a "macho, dog eat dog world." It can often be a mean, nasty world where "big boys don't cry." Since you're one of my personal favorite Sun Signs, I'll finish this section off with a little story which relates to the energies of Pisces. A young, handsome man is out fishing one day and catches something rather unusual in his net. The youth catches a beautiful mermaid, also known as a melusine. The youth and mermaid immediately fall in love with one another. There's one major hitch, though. The two lovers are from very different worlds and it's obvious the young man can't join the world of the mermaid. So, she makes the ultimate sacrifice - so that the two of them can be together. The mermaid offers to join the world of the young man by taking on the form of a mortal woman. But in exchange for this sacrifice, the mermaid requires one small promise from the young man. He must promise never to ask her to reveal her true name. (The promise he must make actually varies from version to version, but the idea is not to pry into a secret held only by the mermaid.)

The young man readily agrees to this condition and makes the promise to her. So the years pass by with the lovers living in their very own version of blissful, joyous paradise. But as time goes by, the young man becomes ever so much more curious about the mermaid - wanting to know where she came from, who she is and what her true name is. The young man thinks to himself that surely enough time has passed and the beautiful mermaid won't mind telling him who she is and what her true name is.

So one day, the young man gathers up his nerve and asks the beautiful mermaid what her true name is? The mermaid shrieks in horror that the young man has broken his promise and she instantly disappears. So you see, Pisces... even if I managed to catch a brief glimpse of your pure essence, you'd simply disappear.

I was not bashing anyone. But there is absolutely no scientific method to Astrology. If someone asks you "whats your sign" you can say anything (for example pretend to be a libra but you are a virgo) people almost always reply with "You know, I knew that." It is old superstition that is so broad that any sign can be applied to anyone. There are some things you can't prove/disprove, but I know for a fact that a star 15 million light years away does not have anything to do with me, my personality, or anything that will happen in my life. I don't have a problem with it, and I know a lot of people read it for fun, but I don't see how anyone can take that stuff seriously.

There are some things you can't prove/disprove, but I know for a fact that a star 15 million light years away does not have anything to do with me, my personality, or anything that will happen in my life. I don't have a problem with it, and I know a lot of people read it for fun, but I don't see how anyone can take that stuff seriously.

Astrology has been around since the Chauldeans, 15,000 BCE, and originally, astrology was used to determine optimal plant and harvest times for early farmers.

In essence, astrology is based on two basic principles: physics and geometry. Physics, as in the balance between the molecular forces of magnetism (positive and negative), and geometry, in the sense that certain angles of influence are stronger than others.

That is because you should be looking up your rising sign (the sign on the eastern horizen at the time of birth, from the place of birth). The rising sign transpires the first house of appearance and the personality.

Even though your sun sign supposedly rules your nature, it is your personality that makes it shine. Meanwhile, your moon sign represents your subconscious needs and subtly influences you to achieve them. Other than that, astrology is neither here nor there.

A great site to get your free astrological chart is: www.astro.com. It is a dutch website, that is the english version. Along the top bar click: free horescopes. A prompt will ask if you have entered birth data, if not, click the hyperlink then fill in the blanks. The main things you need are the actual time of birth, the place of birth, and the month, date, and year. This will give you the most valid reading.

I love astrology, I think it is really interesting.

Every culture in the world has developed some form of astrology.

Carl Jung has related astrology to the super unconsciousness, and linked this human need to primitive archetypes (and he coined the term archetypes BTW).

I don't really care if it can be 'scientifically proven', I think it is a fantastic tool for personal psychotherapy, for people to be a bit more self-reflective of their own behaviour patterns and beliefs, and IMHO, anything that can do that is a good thing.

I'm not bashing anyone, but it's is a little had to believe stars had anything to do with behavior. That being said I do believe that people of the same sign act in MANY ways the same. For instance I'm a Leo. I have had a few grlfriends over the years that are Leo's too. I can always tell when their moody, because I'm moody, or horny, or whatever. Everything isn't the same, but it's damn close. That being said, I love hanging out/dating girls that are Aquarius and I avoid all girls that are Scorpio. Now I don't ask them right off the bat what there sign is because I don't want to go at it like that, BUT after a couple of times hanging around them I can tell. At least with these two......
