A friend who owns a gym hired young trainer and he sent the kid(23yrs old) to me to mentor him with training. he says he's been training 3yrs and want to compete bodybuilding/powerlifting. Since gym owner is a good friend of mine, i offered first session for free. Then i see this real fat kid 30 min late, says he wants to improve his back/delts. i test his movements, poor muscle connection and can't even finish a set due to aerobic fatigue. i said to myself, this isn't gonna be good....
He talks about reps in reserve, stimulus vs fatigue and he doesn't like hard reps as he fatigues too much.... i stayed more than an hr(1hr 45 min), making sure he gets the info he needs and he says he's gonna stay and do chest/back today because he missed chest day yesterday... see what's wrong with all these..?
i told him, what he needs is high effort training and he'll need to do that for about 6yrs to build impressive physique. he didn;t seem thrilled with the idea... plus he says he is 235lbs, I'd say he's about 260, another red flag.
then he sends me about 5 videos a day asking me about his form, i make corrections, well that i can deal with.. I even gave him 3 options for splits. he says he'll do Dorain yates 4days split. It's only been 5 days and he asks if he should add extra ''touch up day for back and delts" I know where this is gonna go if i don't address this now, i'll be like Alexa answering his questions without making a dime on my time. when someone asks training related questions, I give long answers and usually give more than what they asked for. this is starting to waste a lot of my time.
i told the kid to buy this book(anatomy of strength training, a must have) and told him to hold off anymore questions until we meet next time. I think his feelings are hurt, but i can't keep wasting my time with every little stupid questions for some who may or may not commit as a client. I believe his motive was absorb as much free information as he can without paying for my time.
