I need unbiased opinions on joining something like this. I need to do something with myself. I want to go to college... I cant not get financial aid for a good school. I know student loans are an option but trying to avoid that.

FUCKIN A... i can only get daytime classes for my major... i already taken all the night courses i can.... they wont let me leave early 2 go 2 class... sooo it put me in a bind... i offered to work overtime w/o pay to make up for lost time... but they wont let me....

so.... im tellin u everything i try 2 do turns 2 shit

I was in the LA Army National Guard from '86-'92. Financially it was a great deal. At the time I made over $100 for a drill weekend, $140 month GI bill while attending college (got a degree), and went to a state university tuition free. Plus I got a $2,000 enlistment bonus. The big downside was being activitated for Desert Storm. I know the unit I was in went to Iraq about two years ago and they just announced that they're going again at the end of the year.

I think you'll like the physical part of basic training. You will come out of it lean!

My advice would be to pick your MOS very carefully.

Any specific questions?

I don't know if Texas A&M is a state funded school. But if so, you would have to be a resident of TX and join their National Guard.

Being deployed sucked but I was in artillery so I thought I was going to die.

yea, but probability wise i am more likely to die in a car accident or plane crash right?
