Branch - Train Insane

Awesome vids, insane is an understatement. Branch is *huge*, his delts are sick, when I met him in person it was unreal. A down to earth guy too.

Really nice guy. Trains at my gym but I hardly ever talk to him there. When he steps in he's in this zone and doesn't look like he wants to be fuked with.

I've never seen anyone train as hard as he does in real life.

You train at metroflex HP? I met Branch a couple years ago, really softly spoken and polite, its like he flips a switch in the gym

Killa vids bro. :igok: Next to Coleman, I always did like the Branch/JJ training vids coz they fuck it up! Ya gotta admit, after working with Coleman all those years and seeing all his crazy weights, it must be damn near impossible to impress Brian Dobson. :p

Gotta give Branch big propz...he wasn't born with even close to the genes of some guys - other than legs - and he did an amazing job bringing up his torso & arms in recent years to help balance his physique. I think Branch is the ONLY guy since the Yates era to bring that same "graininess" to the stage that Dorian once did. :igok: He's keen on doing what he "has to do" to compete successfully, as he can't play the aesthetic game like Phil and Dexter can, and can't play the size game with Jay.

Yes it's 15 minutes away from my apartment without traffic. It's smaller than you'd expect but the vibe you get from that place knowing that this is where champions where made really brings you this indescribable sense of well-being. It actually made me train that much harder knowing the dumbbells I was rowing were the same ones Ronnie had used. Hard to explain but it's a great place.

I'd also like to visit Bev's Power House in NY and Golds in Venice (when it's not crowded, lol)

Its funny how we talk about him not being asthetically as gifted as Dex and Heath and not as big as Jay. To me he's pretty much the same as Jay but a shorter version. In terms of his shape he used to be very aesthetically gifted afew years and 30lbs ago and before he got caught up in that size game

I used Jay I guess since Ron retired, he's the the "big guy" now. I agree that Branch is slightly similar to a "mini-Jay" somewhat, although I like Branch's physique better. I myself would now or never say Branch has/had an "aesthetic" physique - I say that because of his structure. Jay even moreso. Whereas typically aesthetics can be lost when a guy gets so big, its not written in stone - Yates had it even though he was a beast - everything just "flowed" together (before all his muscle tears of course). Being taller helped him in that regard. Its actually rare indeed to see a shorter guy that has to carry enuff muscle to compete successfully at the pro level to be "aesthetic". Although certainly not impossible, ie Dexter, Labrada, etc. So I guess we agree to disagree on this topic brutha haha! :p

Sweet. Whats it like training there in the hellish Texas summers with no airconditioning dayum? Shit I bet ya sweat off 10 lbs on arm day alone...I can't even fathom leg day!

It's horrible but you don't have to do much cardio at least, lol. You sweat just as much curling in a corner vs. a HIIT sprint session.

Right now it's perfect. Winter will be a bitch.

Branch looks like a miniature silverback gorilla. Guy's yoked to the max.

Maybe to balance his lunch or something :)

Oh and look its the same dude from Ronnie's video. he looked pretty useless in that video, except making weird grunting noises although it was Ronnie who was lifting the weights. I thought Ronnie put him there just because he is the owner of the gym and he wanted some face time or something, but I guess i am wrong, is he a legit trainer?

Lol the guy in the vid is the metroflex gym owner, he may not be a big dude but he is an absolute iron enthusiast and loves every bit of what he does in creating the ideal bodybuilding gym.

Well it looked like it was the worst gym in the world to me, but I guess training conditions for IFFB pro's are different than what you would call normal, nice, trendy, air conditioned, with machines that are not rusted etc....

However on a different level I understand the situation completely. Best grappler's I trained with or training sessions I had, were always in gym's that were stuffy, hot, with really old mats, small lockers, no showers and stuff. They were only made for training really hard so for that purpose everything else was sacrificed. The mats and equipment was old because it was being used every day to their limits by monsters. So if that is the logic that is applying to Metroflex gym, than more power to them :)

It's more about focusing, than comfort. I love the dungeon style gyms, because it keeps the pipedreamers away. Planet fitness is more for them. Just go and hit it hard regardless whether it's a really nice gym or not. your results arn't going to be better because you used brand new equipment vs beat up equipment, as long as everything still serves it's purpose.

I've also trained muay thai and bjj for years, and a gym's niceness should not even matter. You train with what you got. when you go out to fight nobody's gunna care where you trained, it's all about how you do, the people you're training with and how hungry you really are, lifting or fighting. Don't get me wrong it is nice to train in ac in 100 degree weather, but if you're in the game it really shouldn't matter.
