Couple post surgery pics

Couple pics for ya... nothing too fun yet, still have the bandages on. In the close up of the back you can see the little line from the pain pump where it goes into the shoulder.
 
Tomorrow night I'll have some pics of it without the bandages and a video clip of the pain pump being pulled out.
 
I'm sure you will... you get cadaver tendons - doesn't get much cooler than that!
 
Some new pics... took these last night when we decided to change the bandage... the original bandage was feeling wet on my back and I didn't know why - until we got it off my shoulder... as you can see there is a pocket of blood under the plastic that is holding the pain pump hose in place - that is slowly dripping out down the pain pump tube and making the bandage stay wet.

My god, what a mess..lol..the nurse in me wants to clean that up asap!

I have never seen a pump like that either. We only have morphine pumps that are regular IV's and the pt has a little button they click to give them a boost of it. Yours is cool!
 
Yeah, it is pretty messy... tonight when we take the pump out we're going to just poke a hole in that "pouch" and drain it first, otherwise we're going to have a HUGE mess! I'm getting nervous looking at this pump though - it is getting close to empty and I know it is going to get pretty sore once it runs dry.

I finally get to take a shower tonight too, that will make it look a lot better.
 
You'll be alright!! Consider yourself lucky you had it that long :) My 2 big surgeries, all I got sent home on was Demerol, which is fuckin useless!
 
Demerol is great! Morphine doesn't do anything for pain for me... immediately post surgery they gave me 2 shots of morphine that didn't do anything - but the demerol knocked the pain right out ;)

These pumps are definintely nice - been taking a lot less Vicodin than I figured I would be taking.

Funny!! It's the opposite for me. Demerol makes me sleepy so I get knocked out, and then wake up in pain- if it knocks me out at all. With Morphine it makes me pain free, I'm awake and I feel great!!

As a nurse, we find Demerol pretty much useless compared to Morphine. Everyone is different though in what they respond to.
 
I wish I had my time back when I had my tummy tuck. I should of had a ton of pics. It would have been really interesting. All I have are some "before" shots that the surgeon took, and they are printed off in black and white so it's not the greatest.

Shouldn't hurt at all getting that out Aaron. I doubt that there's much holding it inside you.

Getting it out shouldn't be bad - I guess there are like 6-7 inches of the tube inside, but is isn't any bigger than a 18-16 gauge needle.
 
Pulled the pump out half an hour ago... the video didn't save for some reason :( Was pretty uneventful though... just felt kind of strange as it was coming out. The only excitement was draining out that huge pocket of blood from under the bandage... but that wasn't too exciting either. Was really nice to take a real shower though! I took a pic of the part of the pump that was in my shoulder, I'll attach that right here:

what did u have done, i had a open bankart about 2months ago and i almost have my full range of motion back, i am lifting just light tho mostly everything i do is 4x15 in every body part just to get a good pump and my mass back after the surgery i dropped 15 lbs but im back up to 180 and eating like a horse, it sucks i know but keep faith my man you will be back in the game in no time
 
Was supposed to be an arthroscopic SLAP repair... turned out to be a posterior labrum tear instead of an anterior labrum tear - so I ended up having a posterior labrum repair and an a-c joint decompression.
 
yea i had the ac joint done in 05 it sucks 2 surgerys in one yr but hopefully , everything is good now , but best of luck to you bro and i hope ur recovery is good, it takes time
 
Thanks :D I had a posterior labrum repair done on the left shoulder 6 years ago... was a worse recovery that time though because there was also a capsule tightening done. Range of motion was pretty good today at my first PT appointment, so I'm kind of hopeful of the recovery being quick.
 
damn, i thought i had a messed up shoulder! Well not to make you feel bad or anything but, I hope I dont have to go through that kinda thing. how long are you off the weigths for?
 
No bench press/push up type movements for another "couple months" according to my doctor this morning. Other things progress along at my tolerance. I'm doing big bad 10lb bicep curls and red theraband tricep extensions now! LOL! I can actively lift my arm to the front to about 90 degrees, and to the side about 90 degrees - but both movements feel like I am doing it holding a 50lb dumbell!! Passively I have almost full range of motion already.
 
How you doin now man? I gotta get another injection in my shoulder on the 16th. I hope you are feelin better and it all helps.
 
Feeling pretty good... still can't reach straight out in front of my body very well - but I can't complain it hasn't even been 2 weeks! Range of motion is almost full when my PT is stretching me, so that is good news. Biggest problem I am running into is that I keep forgetting that I had surgery and keep overusing my arm. I guess that is a good sign though - because it means the pain is very minor for the most part.

Therapy details in my workout journal for anyone that is interested... right now I have probably 150 degrees of flexion actively (reaching in front of the body) and 110 degrees of abduction (like doing lateral raises) normal for both of those is 170-180; so I'm not doing too bad for being 2 weeks post-op. Full range of motion when my therapist is stretching me into internal and external rotation, and almost full range flexion and abduction! I'm pretty excited.
