The difference in that respect is women use it to get their way and things they want. They seem to be better at holding out until it is to their advantage. The reality is most women could be catorgized as whores while men would fit more into sluts. Of course there are many women who are mixture of the two- slutty whores. What it all boils down to is a battle of wills- who can hold out the longest till they get what they want. All the guy simply wants is some ass without all the bullshit games.
