Ok, my gf came up with a wacked out Christmas List of things I "could get her". Everything on the list is atleast $300!! lol. So, there really isn't much that I want for X-mas so I told her to get me something wacked out like a gun lol:) She said, fine...I kind of wasn't expecting that, so now I'm debating what I should get. Any suggestions?

no suggestions but i've always wanted a handgun

O and for christmas this year my g/f came up with the idea of just go out to eat 2times and each of us paying for one of them:) Can't beat that

What do you want the gun for? Are you looking to do target shooting, hunting, or self defense?
For target shooting you could get a nice used Kimber .45 for a decent price - a new one is kind of pricey unless you go with a lower end model. That is what I was planning on getting a while back - but the ex wife talked me out of it.
Right now I'm thinking of getting a Desert Eagle .44 magnum - my dad just picked up a .44 magnum revolver for hunting - so I thought the desert eagle would be fun for hunting also.
As far as self defense - sigs and glocks are always nice...
I woudl recommend going to a local shooting range and trying out a few different guns before you decide to buy.

GLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Buff I have been around guns all of my life and I'm in love with my glock. I got it around a month ago and its probably the best gun I have owned. Its the glock 23 model (.40 cal). A buddy of mine has the .45 cal and its a good gun as well. Desert Eagles are nice too but it would take you AND your girl to buy it...lol. Roughly $1200 new. I've shot a .50 cal Desert Eagle. Its probably a little too much for the civilian. I paid around $550 for my glock. Hechlor and Koch make good guns and so do Sig Sauer.

do you guy's know what type of gun the Chick Cop used in Resident Evil 2? That thing was awsome!! I should be a Cop within the next year or so, so I should invest in something good :)

So you get the job Buff?

Also I don't know a damn thing about guns so I am no help.

no I haven't got it...I will be testing in a few months...but it's about as sure as it can get. I got Awsome ref's for that department, and I got my degree already. All I have to do is play the waiting game :)

I really like my S&W .38 airweight with laser sight

I can wear it on my ankle and hardly notice it's there....light weight, small, and the laser aim is sweet :D

so much to consider on this decision. I own 5 or 6 and wrote my bro in law a detailes analysis of the factors to consider when choosing lemme see if i cna find it for you.

I agree the desert eagle kicks ass, but unless buff wants to hunt deer in downtown chicago, it is gonna be useless to him, they weigh about 7lbs so having one strapped to his leg would be interesting.....lol

Glock is what I like.
I have the glock27 which is a .40 calibre and it is easy to conceal.
But you should also check out the Taurus line. They got some great handguns that are not to pricey.

You need to see what fits your hand best.....

You need to hold it and feel the balance as you hold it...........

Then consider what use you want it for .. hunting, carrying, home/personal ...

I have had quite a few.... the desert eagle 44... ahhhhhh HUGE and heavy and awsome... but not a carry gun or a quick draw at all...

Glocks are nice adn light and durable.. but I have a big hand and it just dident sit right for me and felt unbalanced when pulling the trigger. Had the Glock 22

H&K ... had the older USP 9mm ... sweet... second favorite.. I could shoot the shit out of anything in my sights. And the 15 rd. clips were nice too ;) Felt great, light, fast draw and midsize so it was east to conceal but to conceal it all day would not make it my top choice IF your going to carry it.

Sigs = my favorite :) I have the 229 with laser grips .... Bottom line is it fits me best. high cap. .40/.357sig clips and feels perfect. It is not light but thats what helps its feel for me. The fit and finnish are awsome and it draws fast and straight.

Personal feel and fitting your needs are the things you need to decide.. but most important is you need to go and hold them bro ...

good luck and POST A PIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great advice bellx1

Also after you narrow down your choices. Go and rent them at your local shooting range. Then you can shoot them all and see which one works best for ya.

For a cop....

Glocks are good. Heckler and Koch are going to be of the highest quality. They're just fantastic guns. I think that's what that chick in RE 2 carries as well. Take a look at the Springfield Armory XD...I had one and I loved it. .40s&w carried 12 in the clip!! There are also some very nice 1911 guns with polymer incorporated in them if you're a style man. Kimber and Springfield Armory both.

Other good quality guns to look at (remember when you become a cop you'll have access to different guns with more capabilities and capacities)

Ruger
Walther
Smith and Wesson has a new light weight high cap gun that's badass.
Beretta
