Now I pulled my left pectoral right under my shoulder last week and i can't really bench at all. I let it rest for a week and it felt fine and i hopped on the bench and flared it up again like an asshole. Now i've been working around it, but i am on cycle and making some serious gains, and i'm worried about if i do not work out my chest, my other body parts will overshadow it. I'm thinking about letting my chest rest for 2 weeks, but i feel that's 2 weeks lost on cycle for gains in that area. Is there anything else i can do to help it heal faster or does it just need rest?

Let it rest bro, whatever gains you make elsewhere, when your chest is better it will catch up.

Been there done that bro. Don't set a 2 week time limit on it, as you don't know in advance how long it will take to heal. Depends on whether you just tweaked it or actually tore it. What exercise was you doing when you injured it? Did it swell? Did it bleed? What symptoms did you have?

You CAN tear a muscle without it bruising and bleeding inside. Thats what I did... incline bb...left pec. Felt it pop, went to the mirror and watched for 15 minutes as I thought for sure the bleeding would come on soon. But it DIDN'T bleed. However, it DID swell dramatically and painful also. I did tear it, as when it heeled my left pec was totally deformed-looking compared to the right pec...a big "gap" in the outer pec where it tore. I didn't do ANY pec work for 4 weeks. After that, I could feel when I slightly stretched the pec, it didn't hurt anymore. Sooo, around week 5 I started doing some LIGHT hammer/machine work and gradually increased the weights over time. But in all honestly, I don't think I touched 315+ again for 1 year on inclines after that happened, as I was a litttle paranoid...I just repped out with 275 tops.

Soooooo, if you tore it, you will need to rest it longer. Sure injuries suck, but in this game its common dude. Some things you can do to help prevent them is making SURE you warm up the muscle ENUFF before you hit the heavy shit. Also, I stretch the bdpt I'm working between sets...stretching it deeper as the muscle gets warmer..NEVER over-stretch a cold muscle. Lastly, using good form is an understatement and should be a mainstay in all your lifts. Try to turn this situation into a positive thing by busting ass on some other bdpts that you might wanna bring up. ;)

Good luck in a speedy recovery bro.

you must rest, then when your sure its healed some, get some physio on it. You must limit your weights when you do start back and make it progressive. Start back with 10kg per side on flat, 10 reps per set, 3 sets that's it stop. Next week after a full weeks rest do a plate a side. after 4 weeks move up some.

When I did mine and felt it has healed enough I still limited myself to 2 plates a side for 3 months or so, did it slow controlled and not explosive, didn't go beyond failure. My chest grew like fuck aswell

Damn what's with the third degree? :iggthumpu

I was benching. Didn't swell, didn't bleed. Just started hurting in the middle of a rep so i put the weight down and couldn't do anything after that. I rested it for a week, and it felt fine, stretched it like normal and went to bench and tweaked it again. I don't think it's too bad, but it sucks, cuz i've been so pumped to do chest this week. I bought a shoulder brace to keep pressure on that side of it, so i'm hoping that helps. It's right where your shoulder meets your chest.

Sounds like it might be tendon, did it crackle some or pop when it happened. Even so if its tended you don't feel it as much unless it detaches, be very careful now because tendon takes a long time to heal, longer than muscle.

Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it. I just get really pissed when i can't do something.

I was thinking that, so i'm gunna take it easy, and use some lighter weights.

3rd or even 4TH degree required if you want the best feedback possible online holmes. ;)
