For about under a year now iv'e been getting some minor pains around the heart area. These pains dont come from just excercise, but il be sitting down doing nothing and they'll come. From everything i've nailed it down too i still dont know what it could be. My LDL's in check, ive quit smoking, i dont drink or take drugs, the only thing i can thing of is stress.
Saying that im still not 100% that this is a heart related matter. I went the doc's last week to explain the situaton and knowing the kind of doctors theses days he said exactly what i thought. "i dont think its heart related", but still he ran a few test's which i recieved today. The ECG showed that some signs of left ventricular hypertrophy That was a non confirmed diagnosis as he said the machine they have will over diagnose and is not all that accurate :rolleyes2
Like usual, everything else was in check when he was flicking through the results till he got to the last page and seen that my CK levels were *1232 (normal range 0-300).

It said on the sheet, CK levels may be increased in

-myositis
-myopathy
-rhadbomyolysis
-hypothyroidism
-IM injection
- excessive excercise

few background things i might include.
Not on any statins - closest thing would be hawthorn extract.
use to be a heavy drinker/smoker.
Use to use drugs, havent used since july 2010 (coke)
work 4 on 4 off ( two days, two nights so i do miss out on sleep).
work out EOD.

for now the doc said to take a break from training.

anyone know much about CK?, could this relate to the pains im getting?

Much help would be appreciated.

Each and ever ytime you workout your CK levels shoot through the roof and gradually return to normal over night this is perfectly healthy. In case of an heart issue your Ck's shoot up and remain high over a number of hours. A good doctor will do a CK differentiation test to determine if the CK's are from skeletal muscle or cardiac muscle, Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you Doctor knows much about Cardiac issues. 48 hours from training then a recheck imo is what should have been suggested. Gastric problems will cause exactly what you are experiencing, but I strongly urge you to do a follow up with a cardiologist asap. For piece of mine bro.

Lift's gave you some very good information. I would follow his advice and try to consult with a cardiac specialist. The rec. drug use in your past, esp. the white powder, really raises my attention to a possible heart condition. Hopefully, it is just a chest muscle spasm issue but I would definitely get it checked. Take care.

Thats some good feedback.

So if i was losing sleep, would it be a cause of why my CK's so high and staying high? (if its from skeletal muscle.)

Booked myself in months ago for the cardiologist, unfortunatly its a big line up.

Im gong back to docs today since he wasnt there yesterday and see where things go from there.

Thanks, I tried to ask the doc alot of these Q's but there alot of communication problems and he seemed keen on pushing me out the door.

@ sick D- the coke was just while i was over seas on a break, it wasnt a consistant thing.

I've had pains in the left side of my chest for over 6 years.
Had a car accident then and they took my to the hospital after complaining about chest pain. Four days later, and after just above every cardiac test they could do, I was on the treadmill test when the doc told me to get out of his office and stop wasting his time.
Had me on heart meds for 4 years, but no change. Then I said to hell with it, dropped 50 pounds, stopped the meds, and still have the pain.
I think it's my sternum. Thirty years ago I was sleeping on my brother's floor waiting to go out to eat, when his friend stepped up onto my chest. When I breathed in my whole sternum cracked. I figured the car accident re-injured it as I was T-boned in the right front fender.
Still get the pains but don't bother with them (getting one now!)
Try to get the most out of life you can.
Love your family if you can.
Enjoy your time.
Relax, then get a second opinion!
Good luck!
