Question about redline

how should I take this if i've been doing morning cardio on an empty stomach?? Should I just take in a little bit of protein then take it??

Also the ingredients have changed. I just picked mine up from GNC and compared ingredients and mine doesnt have Synephrine like the others have. Not that it matters b/c i'll be taking it back in about 25days or so??

Don't take it on an empty stomach... your heart will be racing and you will feel REALLY bad.
I've been doing my cardio with a small protein shake first thing in the am, then when I have my post cardio food I have the Redline.

doing cardio on an empty stomach is done for a reason.........Because you've fasted thru the night, and your body will use fat for fuel. If you drink protein then that will be used as fuel.

I get up, take my redline and have a cup of black coffee, wait 20-30 minutes then hit the treadmill, and I do not get shaky or whatever. But I sweat like a mofo on the treadmill :)

my advice.........NO protein before cardio
.................take redline on empty stomach BEFORE cardio

i took 2 after a protein shake and oatmeal. Feel a tad bit of an effect on my head. U know that little bit of light headness u get after about 10ECA pills:) haha yes I have taking about 12 or so in a day during a meet haha Anyway I just ate and took 2more Pre-workout will tell u how it goes

took 2 in the morning and 2before workout. I was ready to go to the gym, but didn't seem like anymore than I would be with some green tea and alcar. I sweated quite a bit, but I was also wearing a sweat shirt for my bench so it's hard to tell.

actually thats not entirely true - because for the first part of your cardio your body relies on carbs for energy, so it is going to have to get carbs from somewhere... so it will convert some amino acids. If you don't have any floating around where do you think it is going to get it from?
The whol point of the protein shake (20-30grams only) is to give your body something to use to first stop the catabolic state you have been in all night, and second to get some amino acids floating around so your body can create some glycogen to be used before your body is able to switch over to fat burning mode in the cardio.

I've had the redline on an empty stomach and I thougth I was going to die... but to each his own I guess.

well I dunno, I have worked with IA and SC both and they both said drinking a shake before cardio SLOWS fatloss.............and they are both damn successful trainers, so I will do my cardio on "empty"

lol........:)

Your body is a mutha f'er :D It uses anything in the blood stream as fuel. Doesn't matter if it's Protein, carbs, fats, whatever, if it's there, your body will use that as fuel before it dips into your reserves (fat). Your right about carbs being the bodies primary fuel source. But, that's why I advocate low intensity cardio on an empty stomach ;) Your body prefers a different fuel source during this type of activity. FAT. If there is nothing in the blood stream, then your body will go right to your stored energy. Which is what we want :) Lets not forget that the body burns your glycogen stores first during any activity. The sooner we get through those, the more fat we will be burning. That's why you should do around 40 min of cardio. It takes your body about 20min to get through em'. Throw a protein shake/oats in there, and well...you won't be burning any stored fat.

As a side note, a males test levels are at their highest in the morning(whenever you wake up), so losing muscle shouldn't be a problem as long as your doing low intensity cardio.

I'll choose to continue to disagree on that one. I've also worked with a very successful trainer (In-Human/DC) and they recommend a small shake prior to your "empty" cardio. Your body is not going to instantly jump to fat use during low intensity cardio, you need something to use for fuel until you reach that point.

Gives me an idea for a study though - I should see if my buddy over at my old school wants to help out with it... He's got the equipment to measure things.
A study with 3-4 subjects, each subject working as their own control group.
One morning the subjects perform 45 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning with nothing before hand with their heart rate at their age predicted range for optimal fat burning.
2 mornings later they perform the same exercise for 45 minutes with a 30g protein shake 30 minutes before the cardio.
2 mornings later they perform the same cardio with a small protein/carb meal 30-45 minutes before the cardio.
Each subject does the sequence in a different order to rule out any training effect being a cause for different results.
"Fuel use" measured by analyzing the person's exhaled 02/CO2 ratio to determine which fuel system they are using.
I'm excited about the idea.

glycogen stores buddy :D If you put anything in the blood stream..even Glutamine, your body will use that as it's fuel source before dipping into your glycogen stores. It will take you way longer to get yourself into a state where you'll burn fat if you have anything in the blood stream before hand.

I've also seen DC advocate AM cardio on an empty stomach ;)

Your glycogen stores will be completely depleted by the time you wake up. Your body can only use what is stored in the liver for energy during your sleep once the circulating glycogen is gone, and that isn't a whole lot.

If your eating enough throughout the day, there is no reason why your glycogen stores will be depleted over night. Your metabolism obviously slows down when asleep. Everything I'm talking about does NOT apply to running or any other high intensity type activity

From what I have read the liver glycogen will be depleted within 8-12 hours or so. So based on my diet where I don't eat any carbs from 7pm onward, then sleep through the night - my stored glycogen should be nearly depleted when I wake up.

so what do you think your body does with that last meal you have before bed :D ? Just trying to make everyone think a little

Good point, aminos are gonna get converted to glycogen.

Well either way - I am going to definitely look into doing the actual study on it to see if one method causes you to start burning fat faster than another. Should be interesting if I can get it going :D

It takes days to deplete that on a keto diet. No way it's empy in the morning unless you've been on a keto diet for a while (even a TCD isn't the same).
