How long do you guys leave in between sets and do you vary it depending upon excercise?

my rest time always varies. I like to have fully caught my breath/recovered from the previous set so i can give it my all again.

Depends on how heavy I'm going. If I'm going 6-8 reps, I need everything I've got but if I'm doing 12-15reps, I rest shorter. I use oxygen debt as an indicator that I'm ready for my next set.

I shoot for 1 minute between sets and 2min between exercise, HIT principles..

Same here. Usually I just jump right to the next exercise and catch my breath at the end of my workout.

Yeah, nothing like blasting thru back, traps and abs in 45 min, being drenched in sweat and out of breath.

I dont really have a time frame of rest per say .
I lift heavy and typically vary the sets from week to week , but overall I just go and go and go , when I need a breather than I take as long as I want or need ..

Go by how I feel. The heavier I go the longer I take between sets. Most time between 3 and 5 minutes rest (reps 1-6 range), least is a minute. That does change depending on how I feel

Obviously varies. Might rest 1-2 mins between sets of flyes vs 4-7 mins on squats.

Be curious to know how much your poundages have dropped since resting only 1 minute D. Yates rested more than that between sets having a training partner and all. Waiting for each other to do his set, getting hyped before the set, loading weights, hitting the fountain, etc - its all in Blood n Guts. One of the main ideas behind HIT is to use maximum weight on worksets, which on many compound exercises 1 min rest certainly doesn't allow. I know Yates advises the 1 min rest when he's training OTHERS, but thats not what HE always did. ;) Let us know bro. :igok:

I am the same as most. Depends on how I feel. I would say on the heavier sets at least 2-3 minutes for sure. I have tried to push it less on the heavy weight and my stregnth goes down quite a bit. Lots of water and rest between the big sets such as squats, etc...
