How do you tell between a torn tendon and a pulled muscle in the rotator cuff? Mine has been killing me the past few days but I have full range of motion and it doesn't hurt until I use it to lift something slightly heavy.

good question Ph been wondering the same myself. Been jacked up now for a couple of weeks, really uncomfortable at times..

Have a doc check it out. They both take time to heal...torn tendons require complete rest and a high protein diet with mixed minerals, especially the trace mineral Manganese and Vit D-3 (Cod Liver Oil)

Adequan can work wonders on rotator cuff.

Could be a meniscus tear and besides rest and stretching not much you can do. Ive had plenty of those in both shoudlers

MRI is only way to for sure know

You will need an MRI. I had bicep tendentious and it made my shoulder toast. Took over 6 months to repair.

Your doc should be able to give you pretty good idea without and MRI. I have an ongoing issue with one in the back part of my shoulder. It bothers me constantly but especially when doing certain exercises like flyes or when I use the cables at the gym. It got a little better actually on my last cycle with test and deca.
Good luck and don't over do it.

Do you have reffered pain from that area? Like pain that travels down the arm. Usually a tear will cause referred pain too, un;ess it is a small tear. An MRI will show the soft tissue so that is def one yoi should get and with and without contrast. I had a torn labrum in my hip that even an MRI didnt show how bad it really was , so MRIs are a good scan to get, but arent always accurate either. If it keeps bothering you, another good way to know if its coming from the joint is to have a cortisone injection right in the joint. If the pain is relieved, than it is quite likely that your problem could be a tear. Good luck to you and stop lifting heavy for awhile, lol
