you can reach your goals. bust your ass. you have it in you. limit your time on the comp and tv etc. maybe as a reward after you workout so u dont sit all day.

Well i figured out that thr "regular" flavor of oatmeal is SOO over rated. I got like 20 of them in a veriety pack... wonder who loves this crap enough for them to but that many in one box... its just not right...

If you've got the motivation to complete your goals you can accomplish anything. The problem is staying motivated. We're here to help you with anything bro stay with it.

The problem with the flavored ones is the amount of sugar they add. Plain oats with some cinnamon, splenda, nuts - uncooked and shaken with protein, are always to ge the goodness of whole oats and keep it tasty

Like everyone has already said, you can do this. There are so many of us that have come from the "morbidly obese" category down to a healthy and happy weight. Like Jared suggested, write down your IMMEDIATE goals. The only thing I would add to that is to take it one step at a time. Don't look at it like dropping all the weight. Try and make your IMMEDIATE goal to lose 10 lbs. Then 10 more. It keeps it easier to stay motivated if you don't look at it like conquering all of it at once. And with every step you take, every time you reach that small goal of 10-15lbs you'll get a little boost of confidence and motivation.

If you take a few minutes and go check out Jason's (Mahaffje) pictures you'll see that it CAN be done, he's getting ready to compete in his first competition and he used to be very overweight. AND he did it all without surgery or weird fad diets. Just proper diet and exercise.

Keep your chin up, you're in the right place for getting help, advice, and outter motivation but if you haven't made up your mind to do it for real then nothing we say will help. YOU have to decide that you're going to do it and then follow through. But we'll be here to help you when and if you need that little extra boost. :)

Good point, stay away from the flavored garbage. Check out how many grams of sugar is in just ONE serving of that stuff. Do like Mike suggested and go with regular oats and add cinnamon and splenda. Stay away from sugar as much as possible. You can try so many different combinations of food that is healthy and will help you reach your goal rather than most of this processed flavored junk. Try peanut butter or fresh fruit with your morning oatmeal. Just stay away from the fresh fruit directly before bed or at a time during the day when you aren't doing anything.

Again, good luck. :)

Hey bro, when you get the time, check out this article that I wrote:

There are a lot of us here who know where you are at and where you are trying to get to. It is possible to lose the weight, but it is not going to be easy. You are going to have to make sacrifices and you are going to have to bust your ass to do it. It's going to be a difficult and hard journey, but at the end of it, you will have learned so much about yourself that it will all be worth it. There will be times where you doubt yourself and times where you may "fall off the wagon" so to speak, but if you stick with it you will be able to reach your goals in the end.

If you ever need any help or support, any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask them.

Nice article Mahaffje.
I have taken in all that you guys have said. I know that im the one to get my own ass moving. I had the work out addiction in high school. just need to get back there. Nothing compared to doin 5 sets of 10 @ 225lbs on the BP... really gets your adrenaline goin.. i honestly miss that. It also made day to day work easier. Its boring sitting around the house all day because you don't want to be "tired" for work at 5pm. imo.

Should I set my goals low or high?

I think you can do it. Do you think you can do it?

It IS possible, but you have to believe in yourself.
and dont beat yourself up. saying "the fatness" and that talk to yourself doesnt help.
work hard. it all comes down to how bad you want it.

Set your goals small, that way you keep yourself motivated. One large one will seem impossible and you will eventually stray from your motivation.

Make it so taht the small goals will become one large one.

And it is possible to lose that weight. A buddy of mine lost over 100 pounds in about 9 months or so. Don't make June an absolute deadline. Try more like by the summer of 2008.

And as far as the fatness remark.. that does develop self esteem issues, unless you are me, and I thrive on being one fat bastard at a whooping 275 lbs... but that is me. It keeps me motivated on losting fat and such....
