I wanted to put this in this secton so everyone could read it. I know it probably belongs somewhere else.
I've not really said anything to anyone because I don't have a clue what I am doing but I have been using 'slin since late September. Started using it in prep for a PL Meet in Ft. Lauderdale, got the flu, and ended up doing a Bench Press Contest in Denver instead in November.
Anyway, I started training with BB friend I met in a gym in Gainesville, sort of a long distance thing, but he was willing to drive to train with me. This dude is 285-300lbs in the off season and gets down to around 255 for a contest, ripped, at least to me. He wanted to train with me to bring his strength up and I wanted to train with him to push me like a good partner will.
He uses aas, hgh, slin, you name it he is either on it or cycles it. He convinced me to begin using the slin. Now I am scared to death of stuff like that, my father dies of pancreatic cancer, and at first I balked. But eventually I caved back in September.
New Years day he drove over 100 miles to train with me and fill my syringes with the insulin, whic he did regularly, since I am a complete ig concerning the stuff.
We had done our flat bench training, hit the inclines and I was done but he was going to do some d-bell work. As he is getting up from my incline bench after his last set he hit the dirt face first. I had no idea what had happened but I hollered at my wife to call 911. I rolled him over and started hollering at him to wake up. I asked him questions but all he would say was umhmm. I thought he had had a stroke. So I'm just trying to keep him conscious, and not doing too well, when the paramedics showed up.
they asked me about his history and I told them he had some sort of heart condition and was diabetic, basically to cover his tracks when they started running tests and blood work in the hospital. the paramedic checked my buds blood sugar and it was 28!
Now this guys a seasoned pro, having won quite a few NPC shows and even two IFBB shows in his weight class. 31 years old and coming up in the ranks, so it was odd that he should be crashing since he knows his stuff.
I talked to him Wednesday evening in the hospital and apparently his kidneys are shutting down therefore they are not filtering the slin like they used to and instead it was building up in his system until he crashed Tuesday in my back yard.
As we speak I am slowly tapering down off of the insulin and will never touch that stuff again! Yes my strength exploded, size has never been an issue but yes I got bigger, but at what cost?
this stuff is dangerous, even for those who are knowledgable. No more slin for me, that stuff can kill you!

Good to note, especially for people like me who never tried it but have been at it for so long (35 yrs) might see it as the next option. Thanks for the honesty

Helluva situation Buf! No offense my man, but you had NO business fucking with slin if you was "ignorant" to it as you said. As far as your friend, I would imagine his kidneys shutting down could be attributed to a combo of everything he was runnin, not just the slin. I've ran it twice before, at moderate dosages - had no problemos. However, I was NOT running everything under the sun regarding AAS as your friend was. What dosages & frequency was you and your friend running it? You mean you started slin in Sep and have not come off until just recently? Good to hear your friend is still alive - he has some decisions to make for sure.

Even high protein diets can kill your kidneys.I am learning to cycle off even that! So when I come off, I will be eating less than 150-200 grams. This guy should have known to do blood work and if kidneys aren't up to par he should have taken a break.

I know that a few poeple do like to run the slin before a workout, but seems like you are playing with fire there and will have a much harder time controlling the situation, than if you inject immedaiately following the workout, when you can time and measure carbs and even monitor blood glucose levels.

Bet even then....sounds like this guy's physiology threw him a curve ball and I am just glad you got him medical attn in time.

I have never used slin and I never will. To me it's as dangerous as DNP or high doses of Clenbuterol. It's a no no for me - not worth the risks.

This right here is smart.

I guess high protein softens the walls of the kidney. My last blood work shows that normal eGFR is >59. Mine was 91! I was also eating 500 grams a day. Not smart!

Years ago I had a friend who huge and ripped, he used slin alot and was very experienced with it.
He was found dead at 27 years old on the floor of his bedroom. Cause of death was determined to be insulin shock.

This right here is the kind of stuff that's kept me from using it besides I'm still making good enough gain using test, deca, orals, etc and don't see the need unless I was going to compete.. to be perfectly honest it would scare the hell out of meto run it even though I've read a hell of a lot on the matter I still wouldn't run it!
Buff thanks for sharing brother and I'm glad YOUR OK and have decided to do the right thing!! And I'll keep your friend in my prayers..Thanks again for sharing!

This is in the perfect forum spot everyone need to know the real dangers of slin....I ran slin and was green as hell and probably could have killed myself from it and I thank god I didn't. It sucks about your friend buf and I hope your okay as well...and to be completely honest I cut my protein intake back years ago to prevent any extra kidney damage. Excellent post and thank you for sharing this

Another thing happens when really big chemically enhanced guys get hospitalized. The drugs are not available, the food is not available, working out is not happening and their is some ailment present most of which favor catabolism. So what happens is they start dropping mass very quickly.. like 70-90 lbs in a matter of days or a week or two. That really fucks the kidneys so a lot of times they go into kidney failure and need dialysis to get past the problem. Then things normalize.

I'm not promoting slin, or saying it doesn't have sides, but in this case, it shouldn't be the cause of the kidney failure, if anything it probably helped by keeping blood sugar levels within range, which can cause kidney issues. It's more than likely an issue of multiple things like blood pressure, AAS, any dehydration, etc.

You're right here bro. the Dr said high protein intake for years was the probable cause of the kidney situation.

DPH I knew you would be the one to take me to task. And you're right. I can't even tell you what type of slin I've been using. I can tell you I had worked up to 1cc twice a day. And I have no clue how much that is.
this is why I was hesitant to tell anyone. I was/am completely ignorant on this stuff and that not the way I usually roll. But I had my bud there coaching me so I really didn't need to know anything.
But after seeing what this stuff can do, meaning it can kill you, I'm way over it. No more for me once I taper off.

By the way he was released form the hospital Friday but has some hard decisions to make.

1cc twice a day?? typo??? I hope!

Trust me its not the insulin that caused his kidney issues. It's just that kidney problems caused insulin to longer longer in body. Out of all the stuff u guys take, insulin is probably the least damaging. Minus hypoglycemia and some tolerance to insulin there is nothing it will damage.

A dose on the HIGH end would be 15-20IU. Many run much less than that around 5-10IU. 1CC = 100IU. So you were running 200IU ed?? I don't think you'd stil be alive if thats correct numbers.

Bad wording. 1cc a day split twice a day.

BB, thats still astronomical and definitely a flirt with a dirt nap.

Slin is dangerous especailly when people do not know how to measure their dose.

Glad you are ok and the other guy is ok also.

well that is why it was dangerous! Thats 50 iu's at once! Damn I'm surprised your not dead or in a coma! Thank God your not!

I worked up to that but had no idea whether it was a large dose or normal. We checked my blood sugar before my first pin and it was 112 I think, which is a bit high. And I'm a large guy, short but pretty big and he said that was what we would work me up to.
I just had no knowledge of this stuff, still don't, which in and of itself should have been reason enough not to do it.
I don't know why I'm not dead either. Not because of the slin, but all the other crap I've put into my body or been involved in over the years.

After that guy heals up, you need to lay a good ass-whoopin' on him for trying to kill your ass!

Sin is sin whether you know what you are doing or not.
All things are lawful but not all things are expedient.

We'll definately have a heart to heart. But I can'r kick him while he's down. He's pretty bummed right now knowing that all his years of hard work and his dreams are pretty much over.
What's the old saying, "God watches over fools and drunks."?

They telling him he needs dialysis for life now or is he maybe going to recover to an extent?

It's not your time brother, the man upstairs got plans for you yet.. It may just to be here to kep us from doing the same thing who knows.. :unno:
