Ive been gone for a while, 3 surgeries in as many months. The Dr's were worried about me loosing too much weight ( had to stay above 200) so they put me on a tpn ( IV nutrition) i went over it with the Dr and i agreed that 220g/d of protein along with vitamins, fats, and other nutrients all through the iv. my quetion is; is it possible to ceate a protein than can simply be inj? or would it cause too much of a bolis in the blood stream, btw the dosage i am currently getting is over 24hrs and 2400ml. taking out all the other nutrients and just taking the protein would not be very much it is a small percentage of the total 2400ml most is just water.

An injection of protein for iv use would be too large, the nutrient content of blood is in simple molecules, e.g. glucose etc after going through the digestion process. If you were to inject proteins directly into your bloodstream, you'd probably die quite quickly as your heart clogs up. I suppose if BCAA's were small enough to pass into the bloodstream then it would be possible to use them in an iv solution, however I certainly wouldn't try this at home.

I got ya, right now im at home taking the protein through an iv but its over a period of 24hrs. make sence that if inj to rapidly it could cause a clot though.

Even if it didn't kill, you wouldn't be able to use w/o the digestion process. It would have to be broken down into the individual amino acids.

What r u talking about im already doing it, lol. yea i know probably wouldnt be good without a Dr administering it. But its making me gain weight finally

If you are having difficulty ingesting oral proteins, you might try free form amino acids. These break down about as quickly as BCAA. Expensive, but so is iv supplementation. ;)
