Working thru injuries

I still have a small nagging tear in my left shoulder(labrum) and an inpingement that drives me crazy cause it hurts so bad at times. I have learned to work around it for almost 2years now and have no desire to go under the knife again. My last surgery was in june of '06 to repair a torn left tricep. SO basically, any pushing exercise (chest presses, shoulder presses and certain tricep exercises) I have to use a much lighter weight than before. Crazy how today for instance, I trained chest and did barbell benchpresses and after a couple warmup sets I finish with 3 sets of 225lbs for 20reps. Strange how I can do that and if I put on another 50lbs I can't even do it once, cause the pain in my shoulder can't take it. Same with inclines, I do 275 3 sets of 15-20, but anymore and I can't do it once. I really miss doing 405lb inclines for reps but I guess those days will never return, getting old and broke down really sucks. My advice is to warm up properly and try to stay within your limits, cause if not you will end up like me. At least I look good and still can out squat anyone around my area ..haha

Looking good my brotha.......I like the lines you sprayed on for the abs......;)

Aren't your injuries from wrecks and not from lifting?

I am still coming back from a ruptured acl, fun stuff.

Yeah D...thought most of your shit came from snowboarding into Redwoods or playing Evil Knievil(sp?) on your bike bro wazup? :p

As for the iron...ya do what you can do bro. Good to see you're smart about it and train within your limits. Shit I haven't flat bb benched in 15 years...had similar shit happen...I'd get up to 315 and I'd feel the right shoulder going dead on rep 1. But yet I could always still do heavy inclines. On the flipside, at 40+ I can still skullcrush 2 plates a side for 8, when many guys half my age can't even do that exercise because of elbow problems...go figure.lol We all got our quirks...and age withstanding we kick ass on what we can. :)

Nah, my ruptured disc in my neck was from alot of stuff but lifting probaly played a big part of it. Also, my tricep tendon I tore in the gym and fully ruptured it when I hit my arm on a rail while snowboarding. The torn labrum, did it one day while doing incline presses, I think I was just warming up with around 305 and it just gave, man it was painful.

I do the Yate's method, you do about 3 warm up sets and then 2 real working sets. So when I say warming up, I was just working my way up..

He's lying.....I had to run over and spot him with 225 on the incline the other day.....His face was red as hell trying to get that up.....Poor old man is going senile....:D
