Cruci, you are perfectly correct, damn it!
Yeah the AK47 beat the pants off an M-16, I was just bustin' yer balls:)

Anyway, here's something like what Ol' Tommy Jefferson actually had...
Cased set of Thomas Jefferson flintlock pistols - American Historical Society commemorative blackpowder reproductions.

Ummmmm, no I'm in, ahhhhhhh, ummmmm, TX. Yeah, yeah, TX.

If I was not supposed to mention that I apologize, you mentioned before on the board that you lived there, so I didn't think that you wanted to keep it a secret. Ill edit it.

hmm, been there done that, had an AK50 (AK47 with collapsable stock) but when the shit hit the fan i carried my CAR15! Th M16 that we carried was reliable, lightweight, and devastatingly accurate and deadly. THat little round did amazing things on impact and we used to carry claymore bags full of spare mags. THe only problem we had was it did not penetrate brush well. For that there is nothing that can beat the M60 that is portable. THere was a reason that every soldier no matter who he was carried two one hundred round belts of extra ammo for the "60". When the crazy bastard carrying the sixty started hammering, everyone took cover. And, btw we humped those sixties and 16's thru mud and chest high water every day and i never had a single jam with my 16.

I also inherited 45 cal "tommy gun" but with the mags not drums. frankly it was a peice of crap but very romantic. it had amazingly little kick and not very effective as a rifle round but had a great cool factor. Unfortunately i had a round blow up in the chamber one night on me and after that i sold it to an intel weenie in saigon. :)

I would prefer the M240B over the M60. The M60 can only shoot about 600 rounds per minute on a cyclic rate of fire, while an M240B can shoot about 900 (assuming that it is set on the highest gas setting.)

Sorry, I was a on a machine gun team back in my infantry days in the 82nd

^Props to you bro! This is a true VET.

so are the young Crucis and Unearths in this country who risk their lives for pieces of shit such as Michael moore, Jesse jackson ,Al sharpton so they can talk their their crap and manipulate the system in democracy.

AMEN!

i defer to your experience since they did not have the 240 when i was doing my thing. if it fires the same round but with a higher cyclic rate of fire i am all for it! :)

The ak47 is not a communist weapon simply because the USSR designed it. Just because they were used a lot by other nations that happened to have red governments doesn't mean anything. Yes it was first designed by red Russia. But there is a lot of medical science that we use today that was developed by the Nazis in WW2 that was discovered by their torturous experiments that they performed on the Jews. Just because there were evil intentions behind it doesn't mean that the end result is useless to us.

The main reason that I have a Romanian AK47 there is because that is what I personally own. And why?

Because if the shit were to go down, the AK47 is one of the most reliable weapons that requires the least amount of work to keep running. You can drag it though the mud with no oil on the bolt, and it will still fire. Try to do that with an AR15. Not to mention it is the most common ammunition in the world, so therefore easy to find more ammo. And in a NWO situation, that would give me the advantage of staying alive and armed longer.

Man I totally agree but I just love the accuracy of an M-16 with iron sights being able to tag a target 500 yrds out in the prone with a loop sling 8 out of 10 times just gives me a hard on. USMC rifle training is really second to none.

I would really like to know what about USMC rifle training is much more different than the Army's. I hear this argument all the time from former Marines, but I never hear WHY theirs is better than ours, only that it is.

Besides, most combat is done within 300 meters anyways.

I agree with the the combat being within 300 yds most of the time, that is true, but it is nice to have the range if u need it, never know. And on the topic of which
rifle training is better, I have no experience personally with army range training but a former squad leader of mine, when i was a boot, who was a E-5 in the army infantry said that they use electric impact sensitive targets that he claims would count a hit even if u hit the dirt in front of the target and blew up dirt and rocks into the sensor. I know in the Marines we used hand pulled paper targets and mark each shot for the shooter so u know where u hit, again I don't know how the army does rifle range, its just hear say from a former army infantry guy I worked with.

Well..I cant speak for everyone, lol. Not much of a Jesse Jackson fan.

It honestly depends on the range and how well it is kept up, and also on what base it is on.

At Ft Bragg the ranges were pretty good. I got a chance to train with the Presidents 100 once, those guys are amazing shots.

I will say this about Army VS Marines:

The difference between non combat MOSs in the Army and Marines is night and day. The Marines are much more disciplined and hardcore than the Army when it comes to people in soft skilled jobs.

Now as for Army VS Marines Infantry, to be honest I never noticed much difference, except for the weapons. We grunts considered there to be two types of Soldiers, grunts and others. :D

Not that there is anything wrong with the regular Army, but our level of physical conditioning and discipline were completely different than the non grunts.

I was with the 325 Airborne Infantry Regiment in the 82nd Airborne.

I deployed to Kosovo for 6 months, I did a Chile deployment for about a month, and then Iraq from the beginning to 8 months in.

Wow Kosovo, was that 98-99. I knew some guys that went there. I was with 3/8 I co. in the 2nd marine division out of camp Lejeune, I got out in 03 only served 4 yrs. went to Afghanistan for 6 months and deployed to the Pacific for a year and a half, got to see every Asian country on the planet, hahaha.
How was Chile?

Army record fire-36 out of 40 pop up targets at 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 meters.
4 positions-10 shots each
Standing 8/10
Prone 9/10
Kneeling 9/10
Prone with gas mask on 10/10
So,yeah, I guess I could attest to the accuracy of an M-16.

Chile rocked! The people were nice, the food was great and so is their wine. There is a large ethnic Italian population there, and it shows in their cuisine and wine.

I would recommend anyone going to South America to go there. Awesome country, real friendly towards Americans too.

I was a 240 gunner for a long time, I don't remember my best scoreon the traversing targets, but I do remember that I was the top score in my battalion. I was lethal with that thing. :D

Yeah, I got to shoot that 240G for a couple weeks on a machine gunners course back when I carried a M249SAW in my first year and a half in the fleet, that gun is great if you have a good A gunner to work the T&A, that fucker lays down some suppressive fire.

Yeah the saw is pretty cool. I am much more of a 7X62 guy though :D

I am surprised that they gave the saw to a private though. Usually it is given to a senior e-3 as you dont want a newbie on the most casualty producing weapon in the squad, or at least that is how we did it.

I completely agree but I was one of the larger guys, and our senor guys were lazy, lol but we didn't have many senior e-3's in our platoon except one and he was only a senor e-3 cuz he was a shit bag. But honestly they pretty much gave the saws to people who would not fall out of humps carrying it. And not to many Cpl's would want to carry it either LMFAO!! But you are 100% right in an ideal
platoon.
