I have heard all my life about how important it is to keep eggs refrigerated. However, here in the Philippines, you go into any supermarket and the eggs are NEVER refrigerated. It's common here, and yet I have been eating eggs everyday in the past 5 months that I have lived here. I usually buy food at a popular supermarket here called Puregold. The eggs I bought today has an expiration date on the carton of 11/13/11. And yup - not refrigerated. Of course when I bring them home they immediately go in the frig. But how can these eggs be good while not kept refrigerated in the stores? I have yet to get sick or seen any signs of an egg looking or smelling bad. Millions of others have been eating eggs like this forever, so what gives? Could it be that the eggs in the USA are treated or chemically altered in a way that makes them go bad much sooner? I really don't have a clue, and yet I have been wondering about this topic ever since I arrived here!lol Sooo, anybody have any knowledge on this topic, please holla. :)

hey bro iran is the same its just kept outside ...but i realized they get sold out pretty fast and who ever buys them takes them home puts them in the fridge ...

but funny u brought it up ..now im wondering why ...cuz Dubai its all in fridge Iran its not .

Eggs last for weeks refrigerated, and I have had them longer than 6 weeks perfectly fresh. but when I was in my 20's and living by myself, I would go to the local hatcheries and buy that were deemed 2nds after x-ray for 25 cents a dozen. They were in nearly incubator conditions and sat on the floor next to my kitchen cabinets until they werre gone. I would buy up to 20 dozen at a time, and throw 6 raw ones into the blender with my protein shake, then eat 8-12 scrambled after I staggered in from the bars. A 12 egg omelet with 6-8 oz cheddar cheese prevented hangover from being so severe. Even as long as 2 weeks in midsummer heat, and never a bad egg. ;)

When I was young there was an egg farm nearby with crates upon crates of eggs sitting in the warehouse.

never really thought of this...my only guess is that they may last longer refrigerated depending on temp. dang not sure...

Perhaps thats it. Eating eggs here is a staple for damn near everyone. They move quickly off the shelves. Also, the eggs I believe are produced locally, which means many of them are probably very fresh. I still however wonder about the technicalities of it, since the heat here in Phils is so hot and humid everyday. Not like they are sitting in a store in Wisconsin in October haha! If anyone finds any info that can actually explain in detail, please holla.

Thanks :)

Eggs can have salmonella from the chickens. It's part of their gut flora. So in the US we refrigerate to keep the Salmonella from multiplying on the egg shell if it's there and causing illness.

We dont keep eggs in the fridge in the uk anymore niether at home or in the supermarkets it simply isnt necessary

I would say because of what Glyco stated, and also the fact that maybe most cannot afford to keep them refrigerated, or at least it makes is more economical for them to not keep them cool, but i'm sure the expiration from the added heat will definately cut down on the expiration dates.

They probably buy them and eat them quick enough before the eggs turn bad.

I'd definately make sure to clean the shells and cook them thoroughly though to be on the safe side.

Same downunder, we dont refrig em. In Thailand same same, lol but never really a bad egg.
Hey Hank, whats the AAS sit in the Phillip? Same as Thailand? Thinking of heading over there for a change from the Thai's :)

Thanks for all the info fellas - I feel much more at ease now! :)

Softy, AAS are illegal here in Philippines. However, over the course of the past 5 months that I've lived here I've talked to a few Filipinos about the topic in the gym. One of them competes and is pretty jacked. One of them is a policeman. They all tell me that while AAS are technically illegal, they are a drug that nobody ever really looks at as being illegal. The bad thing is, most of the guys I talked to doesn't speak fluent English, so its hard to have an in depth discussion.lol Concerning me, there is no way in hell I would ever try to get AAS here. When I froth and think about wanting to do a cycle after being off so long, I can only think about the shit I see on the Nat Geo series called "Locked Up Abroad".lol For me, it's not even a thought. Whey, eggs, fish and chicken for me here bro! :D

Btw, are AAS legal in Thailand? Whats the scoop there? It's only like a 1 hour flight from here and cheap - maybe I can fly there once per month for a fix hahaha! :p

Its a grey area in Thailand mate, fortunately lol. You can walk into ANY pharm and ask for Testosterone (dont ask for stroids cause they dont like that for some reason?) and out comes the list of EVERYTHING, or they just walk you over to the counter where there is like a 100 or so diff gear on display. Its mostly pharm grade, one or two UGL's in there, but cheap as shit. No script, just pay your money and walk out. As far as I know, ALL meds are available there without a script :) Only thing I had trouble getting were AI's, had to go to a hospital for em and expensive so I just ordered online from my usual supplier :) Nolva and Clomid you will see stacked the fuck up on every shelf....cheap :) In fact all the gear there is pretty cheap.
I have a friend who spent some time in the Phines, a biker. Theres a group there called the "Outsiders" a bunch of expat and locals that all ride. No one fucks with em....ever. Would def be worth your while looking em up. Do a google and they have a page :uke
