I have heard all my life about how important it is to keep eggs refrigerated. However, here in the Philippines, you go into any supermarket and the eggs are NEVER refrigerated. It's common here, and yet I have been eating eggs everyday in the past 5 months that I have lived here. I usually buy food at a popular supermarket here called Puregold. The eggs I bought today has an expiration date on the carton of 11/13/11. And yup - not refrigerated. Of course when I bring them home they immediately go in the frig. But how can these eggs be good while not kept refrigerated in the stores? I have yet to get sick or seen any signs of an egg looking or smelling bad. Millions of others have been eating eggs like this forever, so what gives? Could it be that the eggs in the USA are treated or chemically altered in a way that makes them go bad much sooner? I really don't have a clue, and yet I have been wondering about this topic ever since I arrived here!lol Sooo, anybody have any knowledge on this topic, please holla.
