A broken work out turned into one of the most intense leg sessions in a while.
I went to my local Y to do squats. There was this young gun doing shrugs on the squat rack. I was pissed so I walked away before I did something stupid.
Went to leg extension machine maxxed it out and repped my brains out. By the 3rd set I could feel my legs about to expolde. Did 5 sets total.
Then hit Leg curls machine, maxxed it to the most weight it had, and started repping. After 2nd set my hams were throbbing from all of the blood in them. Did 5 sets.
Then went to do squats, the kid was gone. Put 315 on bar to warm up and pulled it off the rack, said screw it. I don't want to do this. Went to leg press machine. It already had 720 on it, so I loaded it to 1080 and repped, and repped and repped. Wound up doing about 7 sets. Last 2 stripped weight off. Also did calves after each set on press machine.
Whole session took about 45 minutes. I was so pumped I thought my shorts would pop at any minute.

Anyone else been messed up on your plans but it turned out great?
Busted work out turned intense session!

Yes, bro. Ive had dorks from hell parked on stuff having conversations or napping. Certain leg days seem to be my only memories because there's a plethera of upper body equip. but leg equip. is limited.
The anger drove some of the best and most memorable ever. It was satisfying in the end that instead of being agressive with a person (which is not always wrong) I was creative and took it out on the iron and....I won.
Good post. Im sure many can relate.

Funny thing is that just the other day I was doing shrugs in the Squat rack , odd that this big old tatooed man came up and was acting pissed as I was doing my shrugs He stormed off before he tried somehting stupid...so i finished and went to leg press with 720 .....lol....I think I intimidated this Old fella ,,,,he was a Big dude though.....but I think I heard him whispering something along the lines of "young guns"....

On a serious note, Some of my best workouts are those that arent following routine, maybe just a mix up of sorts due to various reasons such as someone being in my way
after 8 weeks or so I will change it up completly and it seems that first few days of the new pattern will really get me pumped and swollen..

BT I thought you would be taller!!!
Hey bro, as long as it is a fellow biker I can make exceptions.
But the fact is that if the kid had just been some skinny twerp trying to impress someone, or standing around on his i-phone I would have scared him off. But he was in good shape, not huge, but you could tell he was serious about what he was doing.
I respect anyone serious about the iron, and try to show respect.
But who does shrugs on the squat rack? Don't they make the smith machines or some other peice of equipment for that?

You should thank that young guy buf! Ay least we wasn't doing curls or forearm workout haha

I do shrugs on the squat rack. I'm a little surprised that you felt the need to do something stupid because someone else got to a piece of equipment before you, regardless of what they were doing with it. I imagine his dues were paid up.

No doubt tren was kicking into gear. And by doing something stupid I probably would have walked up to him and said hey bro how many more sets do you have.
But you are right, to a point. First come, first serve. no doubt.
I will say, if it is a packed gym I would never do shrugs on the squat rack, or curls, or anything else. It's just gym ettiquette. Just the way I came up learning to lift and compete in prison. People in the joint take stupid stuff very seriously. In this case the gym was nearly empty.
PB busting my balls. Obvously a voice of reason. Thanks bro.

Not at all, Brutha. Just wanna razz you about being the gym diva. I'm in complete agreement about a busy gym though, we have to maintain etiquette otherwise we risk showing how truly messed up some of us really are.

I had a couple friends in VA that squatted 800+ and NEVER did I see them warming up with 315 on squats. And they were in their 30's, not 57. Why would you even risk it, or are you bullshitting again haha? :p

Absoluetly not. I have jumped on 315 dead cold because a young kid had the squat rack and let me work in with him, just a few weeks ago. He was using 315 and I didn't feel like pulling anything off, (before that session was over he was pulling plate after plate off after each set while I lay on the floor trying not to puke!). The first few reps were a bit stiff. But by 20 reps on the first set I was good to go. Not nromal procedure, but not a biggie by any means.
315 is nothing on squats, really even bench it's not a big deal.
But I was already warmed up from the leg extensions (my knees) and leg curls (my hip flexors).
