With so many guys passing at such young ages how serious are you about your heart health liver health and kidney health? Is or quest for unnatural muscle going to be the death of us??
I think it's a crap shoot. 1/2 genetics and 1/2 life style. There are a lot of abusers from the 60s, 70s and 80s that are still alive. There is a problem with AAS. They are relatively safe but very addictive. Some will say they are not addictive but I have NEVER seen one guy that did just one cycle. Being on becomes your new normal and it feels a lot better than what you can recall as your natural self. So you stay on most of the time and the scale of use escalates. BP goes up, lipids go to hell and you stay there for a decade. Shit's gonna break.
I look at the guys that are still around or lived really long from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Look at guys like Bill Pearl, Larry Scott, Arnold, Franco, Louie, Dave Draper. Yeah Bill Pearl says he didn't use but that is BS. Draper had a heart attack but still around in his 70s working out. Arnold is 66, looks like shit but ran CA for 8 years smoking cigars like a chimney. What's worse? Smoking like a chimney and having the stress of one of the largest economies.. or taking a gram/w of Primo and 100 mg/d of D-dol on and off for 4 decades?? Larry Scott is 74 and looks great. Franco still around at 71. Louie still around at comic con every year probably still using on and off.
Then a gain some guys didn't do so well. Mike Mattarazo, Don Long etc.. these guys were serious abusers and never went off. Mike use to eat 3-5 lbs of red meat every day. Don looked purple most of the time he was hitting it so hard.
I think if you are ramping things to 4 grams a week and never coming off you better have some pretty strong genetics or it's probably going to end badly. If you are using moderately and have the discipline to come off periodically long enough to recover and like yourself both on and off then probably you will be OK given decent genetics.
These guys that did well mostly probably abused the fuck out of AAS but all of them went off and shrunk up for a while between abuse periods and most likely stopped or curtailed their use as they began to age.
